In a world where we catch up on plenty of rom-com movies on our TV screens on a regular basis, there are a few times we actually come across a sweet, funny real-life story of a girl and a boy actually ending up together.
© Dune Entertainment
One such story is that of Chandi Chandran, an IAS officer, who eventually ended up marrying her boyfriend, Arun Sudarsan.
© Chandi Chandran
The story goes back to 2016 when Chandran was one of the many aspirants who after appearing for the grueling Civil Service examinations was waiting for her results.
Such was the stress for the results, that she would try to go out for walks with Arun (back when they were dating) to ease off some tension.
However, a funny thing happened and one day before the exam results when she had been on a usual walk with Arun while sharing an umbrella in the rain, a newspaper photographer took the couple's picture as part of a piece on rain in the city.
Coincidently, the picture of them sharing an umbrella came next to the list of the UPSC toppers, and unfortunately for Chandran, she couldn't clear the exam.
Chandran, who cleared the exams in 2017 and is now posted as sub-divisional magistrate of Kanchanpur, North Tripura, explained the incident using a Twitter thread.
May 10, 2016.Results of Civil Service Exam 2015 was expected to be out & I was roaming with @mrarunsudarsan to not stress over it. I didn't make it. Next day newspapers were filled with pics of toppers & @timesofindia published this pic of us! Arun called ToI & complained (1/3) pic.twitter.com/mYaemtmm5t

"I took it as a sign that my photo was destined to be there in the paper filled with UPSC toppers and that I can happily walk towards any destination with someone holding an umbrella and looking out for me with love unbound when I take each step," said Chandran.
She later thanked the photographer of the newspaper for capturing the memorable picture.
I made it & we got married❣️ Recently I was remnicising about this photo and @mrarunsudarsan being a darling identified and contacted the photographer.@shutterbugnair remembered the photo because of the complaint and graciously sent us the copy. Can't thank you enough. (3/3)

Actress Neena Gupta is not just a powerhouse of talent and one of the finest actresses in the country, but is also known as someone who is synonymous with how a strong woman is described.
Her honesty and the fact that she has always kept her life as an open book is a source of motivation for anyone who wants to achieve their goals without letting obstacles hold them back.

Her recently-released autobiography, Sach Kahun Toh has been garnering a lot of praise and has earned her more fans.
Recently, an old video of Neena Gupta at an awards show has resurfaced on the internet where she is seen with her then beau Viv Richards.
In the video, she is seen seated beside legendary singer Asha Bhonsle and the two of them are striking a friendly conversation as Asha ji is chatting up with Viv as well.
Asha Bhonsle apparently thought that he looked like Bollywood actor Nana Patekar and Neena Gupta disagreed as she mentioned that “he looks better than him”.
When Viv asks her about who she is referring to, she smiles and explains, “ there’s an actor we have, she’s saying you’re looking like him. I said, ‘No, no, he looks better.'”
Neena Gupta has always been vocal about her relationship with the cricketer and the love and respect she has for him is evident in all her interviews whenever she has been asked about him.
In one of her recent interviews during her book launch, when the question around him came up, her answer was honest and extremely heartfelt.
“I had Masaba because I loved Vivian. And if you love somebody, you can’t hate somebody like that. You may not live or do things together – woh dheere dheere pata chalta hai (you get to know that slowly). But you can’t hate. Aisa toh nahi hota ki aaj love hai toh kal suddenly you hate (You can’t love someone one and hate them the next). And how can you put this thing in your daughter’s mind about her father? I don’t want to and don’t feel it. Why should I poison her thoughts? I have respect for him, he respects me and so, she has respect for both of us. It’s a very simple thing,” she said.

Talking about Viv’s resemblance with Nana Patekar, we don't even think that they look alike, but we wonder what made Asha ji feel that way.

Ever since the Coronavirus pandemic struck mankind one and a half years ago, the world really has been a strange place for us all.
One of the major aspects of the post-Covid world has been the barrage of bad news that you get on a daily basis.

If it's not new strains of the virus looking to jeopardize your vacation plans, it is about some person or the other falling sick because of Covid or something else.
Just today, India woke up to the news of Mandira Bedi's husband and Indian director Raj Kaushal passing away due to a heart attack at 49.

And what we're hearing now is veteran Indian actor Naseeruddin Shah has been admitted in the hospital after being diagnosed with pneumonia.

I mean, seriously, can't we all just catch a break?
As per reports, the 70-year-old Maqbool actor was taken to the Hinduja Hospital in Khar, Mumbai on Tuesday (June 29) after experiencing discomfort.
The actor's manager while speaking to the Indian Express revealed that while the actor is currently being treated, he is doing well.
“Sir was hospitalised on June 29, but he is now doing well. There is a pneumonia patch on his lungs, and the treatment is going on. He might be discharged today or tomorrow,” he said.
His manager's words were echoed by actress Ratna Pathak Shah, who is the wife of Naseeruddin Shah.
“He is perfectly alright. There is a minor patch on his lung, which they have been treating. He should be discharged by tomorrow hopefully.”
“It’s pneumonia, but it’s fortunately very small and in one little corner so hopefully it won’t require much more work,” she said.
Considered to be one of the finest actors in the film industry, Shah has been the recipient of the Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, and three national awards.

The actor was last seen in Vivek Agnihotri’s The Tashkent Files, Seema Pahwa’s Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi, Zee5’s Mee Raqsam, and Bandish Bandits.

As a man who’s constantly set tall standards through his films, Farhan Akhtar barely needs an introduction. Fully conscious of his father’s legacy, Farhan doesn’t pigeonhole himself within it. He is an inspiration to men around the world because he has been able to forge his own legacy through not just his creative work but also through his work for the benefit of society.
Here are 5 reasons that make Farhan Akhtar the perfect blueprint for the modern man:
1. MARDAt a time when most in the industry preferred to stay shut about the horrific violences against women, Farhan Akhtar launched the social campaign MARD (Men Against Rape and Discrimination). His efforts are well lauded by many in the industry as an attempt to educate as well as raise awareness around gender-based violence and men’s role in it. More men need to come out, work and raise awareness around these issues.
View this post on Instagram2. Socially ConsciousWhether it be politics or literature, Farhan has taken after his father, Javed Akhtar. Just like Javed ji, Farhan is a man of the moment who isn’t afraid to raise his voice when things are going wrong. As men evolve with current times, it’s important to be vocal about injustices happening around us.
View this post on Instagram3. Determined Mind, Disciplined BodyWhen he essayed the role of Milkha Singh in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, not many would have expected the roguishly charming Farhan Akhtar to evolve into a fitness icon. However, his discipline towards transforming himself into one of the fittest men in Bollywood inspired many of his fans as well as the common junta. With his latest entrant Toofan he’s once again raising the bar with his boxer physique.

Understanding his reach and impact on young boys and men, he encourages them to be leaders in the gender equality movement.

5. Multicreative IndividualWhat hat does he not don? Director, poet, actor, singer, musician. Farhan’s laundry list of talents are endless. But make no mistake, he has stayed true to himself through all his creative forays. A true renaissance man, we can take a cue from his playbook and be passionate in everything that we do. In this day and age, the value of holistic growth of the self cannot be understated.
View this post on InstagramIn a world with increasingly toxic and misleading male role models, Farhan Akhtar is definitely someone the youth of India can aspire to be. His presence is a breath of fresh air that adds character and gravitas to all that he does, standing clear of the clutter as someone men can look up to.

Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions has announced a film on the life of C. Sankaran Nair, a lawyer who also served as the president of the Indian National Congress, and it was his bravery that led him to discover the truth of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
The upcoming project is based on the book 'The Case That Shook The Empire' written by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat. Raghu Palat is the great-grandson of C. Sankaran Nair.
A note from Dharma Productions read, “This film unravels the legendary courtroom battle that Sankaran Nair fought against the British Raj to uncover the truth about the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. Sankaran Nair’s bravery ignited the freedom struggle across the country and is a testament to the power of fighting for the truth.”
View this post on Instagram
Talking about the movie, Raghu Palat told The Hans India, “We met Karan Johar sometime last year. He said he was very much moved by the arguments of Chettur Sankaran Nair in the highest court in the empire at a time when it was unusual for Indians to stand up against the British.”
He added, “We then gave the rights to make a film based on the book. Two days ago, Karan Johar rang me up and said they were proceeding with the film. It will be directed by Karan Singh Tyagi. The cast is yet to be announced and it is expected to go on the floors soon.”
It will be interesting to see a movie based on C. Sankaran Nair and understand how he got a commission appointed to investigate what had happened at Jallianwala Bagh.
The cast hasn’t been announced yet but we have these 3 Bollywood actors in mind who can play the part really well:
1. Manoj Bajpayee View this post on Instagram
The actor never fails to impress with his powerful characters and we feel that he can be apt for this role as he has already given us biopics like Bhonsle.
It will be interesting to see Manoj Bajpayee taking up the role as he is a master of getting into the skin of the characters.
2. Rajkummar Rao View this post on Instagram
He is one of the actors that we have in mind because he delivered a power-packed performance in Bose: Dead/Alive, and we were swayed by how he delivered his dialogues, making it feels like he is Subhash Chandra Bose himself and not Rajkummar.
3. Pankaj Tripathi View this post on Instagram
According to us, Pankaj Tripathi is also one of the top contenders for the role as he can play any part with a realistic approach and conviction.
Be it Kaleen Bhaiya or the Baba from Sacred Games, he has never disappointed his fans.
Do you agree with us? Also, do you have anyone else in your mind who can nail this role? Let us know in the comments section below.

When it comes to history throughout the ages, it's safe to say that we know way less than we don't. While it can be attributed to lack of information for the most part, there are some areas that were designed as such, that prohibited commoners from getting to know about them.
via GIPHY
Secret societies have been a part and parcel of advanced civilizations throughout the ages, and the ever present veil of mystery shrouding them can be attributed to their descriptor itself - they are, after all, supposed to be 'secret'. Be it the Illuminati, or the Priory Of Sion, there are multiple secret societies that existed, and apparently they are the ones who have actually been running the world, away from the commoners' gaze.
via GIPHY
When it comes to India, we apparently have had one of the oldest and most important secret societies, called 'The 9 Unknown Men', which was set up by Ashoka the Great, more than 2000 years ago.
© Flickr
It is said that Emperor Ashoka believed that knowledge is power, and the key to preserve that power is to collect, nurture, and use knowledge in a way that can be used for great deeds, but can also prove to be terrible if exposed to the wrong hands. So, he summoned nine of the most brilliant minds in India at the time, from various fields and disciplines, to form a secret society called 'The Nine Unknown Men'.
However, it was designed in such a way that should a member quit because of death, disease, or other reasons, a worthy member would be chosen in his place as the successor, and the society would continue with the pattern of having exactly nine members at any given point in time.
© Shutterstock
There were nine disciplines based on the expertise of which, the nine were chosen. They were Propaganda, Physiology, Microbiology, Alchemy, Communication, Gravity, Cosmogony, Light, and Sociology. Between these 9 disciplines, everything that a strong ruler needed to be all-powerful, was covered. There were subjects in between these nine disciplines that were controversial, mysterious, and sometimes also referred to as 'forbidden'. For example, how to kill someone with only one touch, also called 'The Touch Of Death' was studied. It is said that modern day Judo originated from the leaked knowledge of this very stream.
via GIPHY
Other topics include communication in its most advanced form, which apparently also dealt with extraterrestrial communication with aliens. Alchemy includes transmutation of metals, the most popular form of which is converting metals to gold.
via GIPHY
The most interesting thing? They say the most famous and influential people in history, mostly scientists and artists, have invariably been part of secret societies. Apparently, Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein, as well as our very own APJ Abdul Kalam were members of Ashoka's Nine Unknown Men. Mind blown? Here's a small tip for anyone who is interested in finding out more on this topic: controversial yet extremely revered works such as Dan Brown's 'The Da Vinci Code' or 'The Nine Unknown' by Talbot Mundy, would have enough material to quench your thirst on this topic.

Let’s be honest with ourselves, most men have a rather precarious relationship with the porn they consume. However, one thing that we cannot deny is that people who consume porn tend to have that one favourite pornstar.
© iStock
As hard as it may be for a lot of people to believe, the porn industry doesn’t actually pay that well. Mia Khalifa, who to this day remains to be one of the most highly searched pornstars of all time, famously said that she made peanuts while she was acting, and had to therefore leave the industry.
© Instagram/miakhalifa
Here we take a look at few other retired pornstars who actually make more money from YouTube & Twitch, two of the world’s largest video content platforms, than they made from porn. Their ‘safe for work’ or SFW content has ensured that they are massively popular on these platforms as well.
1. Sasha Grey © Twitch/sashagrey
Sasha Grey at one point in time was one of the most popular pornstars, especially among Indian web surfers. Naturally, people assumed that she must be earning truckloads of money from her career in the porn industry. However, that wasn’t true. Sasha Grey is massively popular on Twitch. She isn’t a hardcore gamer, but yes, she does play games and has very casual live streams where she’s seen cooking, and just chatting with her 8,81,000 followers.
2. Sunny Leone © Instagram/sunnyleone
Sunny actually has a pretty dope YouTube following, with over 6,30,000 subscribers. Her channel is vividly diverse. She has a series of makeup tutorials and BTS from a number of commercial and film shoots. She also often goes live on YouTube and engages with her fans.
3. Alana Evans © AFP
Alana Evans too has quite a good following on Twitch and a number of other social media platforms. Even when she had an active career in the porn industry, she was a huge gaming nerd, and her own ventures, one of which included an interactive video gaming website where subscribers could play video games with their favourite pornstars via Xbox Live or on the PlayStation Network.
4. Mia Khalifa © Instagram/miakhalifa
Mia Khalifa too makes to this list. On Twitch, she has about 5,00,000 followers, and also a massively popular fan base on YouTube, just like Sasha Grey. As per an interview she did about her time in the porn industry, she revealed that although she acted for about a year, her videos catapulted her into stardom, after she had stopped acting. She also said that she made a total of $12,000 from her videos.
5. Johnny Sins © YouTube/SinsTV
Johnny Sins bid adieu to the industry in 2019, however, he did say that if he finds a project enticing enough, he would definitely come back. Sins has a lifestyle vlog on YouTube and has over 17 Lakhs subscribers on his channel. He often talks about the industry, but mostly, it is a regular lifestyle vlog, where he speaks about health and working out, his vacations, and his life in general.
6. Manuel Ferrara © Twitch/manuelferraratv
Manuel Ferrera has a proper, hardcore gaming channel on Twitch, where his content is consumed by over 3,50,000 followers. Some of his uploads on Twitch contain hours of gameplay videos from COD: Warzone, and a number of other RPG games. Do keep in mind that his is a French channel. Had it been in English, he for sure would have a lot more followers.

It's almost every day that we see a celebrity getting trolled on the internet.
People often bank on social media platforms to make fun of others without realising how it can anguish and take a toll on the victims. While sometimes, trolls are light-hearted, quite a lot of times, it turns into a heavy feud on social media.
The incessantly negative trolls keep trying to break celebrities and often force them to speak up against cyberbullying.

Abhishek Bachchan has found himself as fodder for memes several times.
But recently, on Social Media Day, he shared some rather important information on Instagram.
He created a meme of himself using Drake's Hotline Bling Template and is seen reacting to the situation. In the meme, he is seen rejecting the rumours and negativity while giving a thumbs up to sharing knowledge, gaining knowledge, spreading love, peace and happiness.

As he shared this meme, he wrote on Instagram, "Social media is a powerful tool. But remember, with great power comes great responsibility!"

As soon as he posted this meme, Suniel Shetty commented clapping emojis on it.
Abhishek's fans also applauded him for being a natural on the internet. One user wrote, "You are absolutely love." while another one said, "We're so proud of you."

Abhishek has often given befitting replies to memes and trolls.
Just last year, a troll said he gets to work in movies only due to privileges. To this, he responded, "Kaash jo aap keh rahe hote sach hota. Sochiye, Kitna kaam milta mujhe."

Abhishek also spoke about giving classic replies to trolls in an interview and mentioned that it has to be a fair game.
He said, "My thing is that it is fair game. If you're going to take potshots at me, I have every right to take a potshot back at you." The actor also said that he lauds real, funny jokes but at his expense.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Abhishek will be seen in Bob Biswas, in which he essays the role of a serial killer. He also has Dasvi in his kitty.
Abhishek was last seen in The Big Bull by Kookie Gulati and also starred in Anurag Kashyap's movie, Ludo.
