    Taapsee Pannu is someone who believes in sharing her opinions publicly and doesn’t shy away from speaking the truth out in the open. Her opinions have often landed her in controversies but that hasn’t stopped her from speaking her mind.
    In a recent interview with Siddharth Kanan, she said that she was dropped from a film at the last minute after she had blocked her dates. 
    Though she didn't mention the name of the movie, Taapsee added that she had called out the makers earlier for unceremoniously replacing her.

    She said, “Mere saath hua hai. Bas taiyaar hoke nahi gayi thi, maine sirf dates di thi aur uske baad mujhe nikaal diya (It happened to me. I didn’t get ready for the shoot, I just gave my dates, and then I was thrown out).” She added that the makers did not communicate their decision to her. “I got to know through the media,” said Taapsee. 
    When asked if the makers reached out to her after being called out by Taapsee, she said, "Obviously, they called me and met me, not to say kyun bol rahe ho (why are you talking about it) and all, just to apologize. After I had spoken out, then they met me to apologize for it. But still, they were hesitant to reveal the real reasons ki aisa kyun kiya (why they replaced me).”

    It was in 2019 when Taapsee had revealed that she had been dropped from the Pati, Patni Aur Woh remake at the last minute.  
    In an interview with a daily, Pannu had stated how she was asked to block dates for the shooting and it was proof enough that she was on board for the movie. She had said, “Your time is money. You don't block a person's time and then say 'No, someone else is doing it'. People who did it had to somewhere take the responsibility or throw it back at me." 

    When asked about the reason given to her by the makers, she said director Mudassar Aziz did not give her any justification. "He was just asked to take someone else. When I tried to confront the producers, I wasn't given a proper reason. As much as I have been trying to get some clarity on the matter, they've been putting off the conversation, which is very weird," she said.
    A few days after Taapsee called them out, the makers did come forward to say that they didn’t make any commitment to her. 
    Here is hoping Taapsee and the makers have let bygones be bygones.

    Veteran Bollywood lyricist and music composer Javed Akhtar was recently invited to grace the singing reality show Indian Idol 12.

    However, it somehow turned out to be a nightmare for Akhtar as he found himself being brutally trolled on social media after his appearance on the show. Wondering why? 
    He went on to praise one of the contestants, Shanmukhapriya, who has already been a target on social media. People have been trolling her for her singing style and were not okay with Javed appreciating her.

    Shanmukhapriya performed the Dil Dhadakne Do title song and after her performance ended, Javed questioned her if she is criticized on social media. 
    When she says yes, Javed added, “You should be criticized because male chauvinists in the country don’t like a smart, confident, and competent girl like you."

    He went on to add, “Those males become insecure. They like a girl who is reluctant, one who is unsure. Your qualities say that no one can do it better than me. Your unabashed qualities will not be liked by many. You don’t pay heed to them. You continue doing the good work and your future is bright."
    The aspiring singer later said how happy she was to see him on the sets and said, "I was awestruck the moment I saw Javed Sir enter the sets. I am such a huge fan of his work. His writing is what makes the song a lot more melodious. Being on the same set as him is a big deal. I am so grateful to Indian Idol Season 12 for allowing me to perform in front of a legend like Javed Sir. I couldn't stand the ground when he mentioned he's heard my yodelling & seen my videos. Javed Sir is a legendary artist and to receive a compliment like this means the world to me."
    People found it unfair as Javed gave a sexist angle to the controversy surrounding the contestant. 
    One of the Twitter users said that men do respect female singers like Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Sunidhi Chauhan, Alka Yagnik, and Shreya Ghoshal, and that his comment was uncalled for. 
    People also went on to say that he was given money to praise the singer, adding that they would not stop criticizing her as she lacks the basics.

    Who doesn’t love Bollywood? The drama, peppy songs and scintillating outfits are some of the MVPs of Indian cinema that has garnered fans worldwide.  
    Even our arch-enemies, Pakistanis aren’t spared from the kick of Bollywood masala. Not just the Pak audience, but the filmmakers too love it so much that they have taken inspiration from Indian films multiple times in the past.

    However, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan wants it another way, as he doesn’t want Pakistani filmmakers to copy Bollywood, claiming that it influences their culture, and not in a good way. 

    He recently spoke at the prize distribution ceremony of the National Amateur Short Film Festival (NASFF) in Islamabad, where he urged the young and upcoming filmmakers to stick to original content.

    He said, “The most important thing I want to say to young filmmakers is that according to my experience of the world, only originality sells -- the copy has no value.” 

    He also implied that copying another nation’s content has led to imitating their culture as well. However, he doesn’t want Pakistani cinema to make those mistakes again.

    He wants the people in Lollywood (Pakistani film industry) to come up with original content and promote ‘Pakistaniyat’ in their films. “So, my (advice) to young filmmakers is to bring your own original thinking and don't fear failure. It is my life's experience that the one who is afraid of defeat can never win,” he said.

    Moreover, he blamed the 'vulgarity' in Pakistani cinema on Hindi movies too. He said the influence of Hollywood and Bollywood has started  “that kind of culture” in Pakistan as well. 

    “Vulgarity started from Hollywood, came to Bollywood and then that kind of culture was promoted here.”

    Well, originality should always be promoted, especially in the field of creative fields but calling Bollywood films vulgar wasn’t right. 

    In April, he suggested that ‘vulgarity’ was due to Bollywood, among other things like sexual violence, divorces and England’s rock and roll culture in the 70s.

    We think it’s great that Pakistani filmmakers have been urged to come up with original content and bring more ‘Pakistaniyat’ in their films by their PM, because we would like to see that, but trashing other movie industries is not the way to go about it.

    The Round of 16 knockout game between Croatia and Spain produced one such moment that any goalkeeper would want to forget. The 2010 World Cup winners dominated the possession and came close to scoring more than once in the first 19 minutes.

    With 20 minutes into the match, the deadlock was finally broken in the most bizarre fashion after a howler from Spain goalkeeper Unai Simon led to an astonishing own goal that gave Luka Modric’s side the lead.

    Barcelona’s 18-year-old midfielder Pedri -- the youngest player ever to start a Euros knockout game --  played a simple back-pass to his goalie but somehow he missed the ball completely while trying to control it.

    By the time he could realise his mistake it was too late and all he could do was stand and watch the ball roll into the empty net. The no-so-forgiving social media troll army soon bombarded the micro-blogging site with hilarious memes of the bizarre goal.

    Simon, who was playing ahead of Manchester United star David de Gea, didn’t allow his blunder to get over his mind and redeemed himself by making a couple of great saves at crucial moments during the game and helped Spain book a place in the quarterfinals, winning the game 5-3 after extra time.

    Twitter recently dropped an incorrect map of India on its website that showed Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh as a separate country. The social media giant has already been facing legal trouble in the country and now a second FIR this month has been filed against the micro-blogging website in UP. Twitter India chief Manish Maheshwari has been personally named in the FIR.

    The incorrect map which has now been removed was displayed in the “Tweep Life” section of Twitter’s website after it was flagged by a user. "This act of treason has been committed intentionally and action should be taken," reads the complaint filed by Bajrang Dal's leader Praveen Bhati. 

    The case has been filed under Section 505 (2) of the Indian Penal Code which deals with creating or promoting enmity, hatred or ill-will between classes. The case was also filed under Section 74 of the IT (Amendment) Act 2008.

    Twitter chief Mr Maheshwari was summoned earlier this month over a separate FIR after links to the assault of a Muslim man in UP caused a controversy. The claim made by journalists Rana Ayyub and Saba Naqvi was debunked by the police as “fake news” and were also named in the FIR. The FIR said that tweets were shared with a motive to "provoke communal sentiments.”

    Twitter is amidst a tussle with the Indian Government and is at a stand-off over compliance with the new IT rules. This is not the first time Twitter has shown an incorrect map of India as it has happened two more times in the past few months. The IT ministry could issue a show-cause notice to the social media giant and may also recommend action for the repeated offence.

    Twitter’s stand-off with the Indian government has also caused an interim grievance officer, Dharmendra Chatur, to quit his position as of this week. In the past, Twitter also got into trouble over censoring posts related to the farmer’s protests against the new controversial laws earlier this year. The Indian Government also asked the site to remove the "manipulated media" tag on tweets posted by BJP leaders. The social media giant refused to comply which resulted in the Delhi Police visiting Twitter’s office in Delhi and Gurgaon.
