    It is very common for heads of states to gift something or the other whenever they meet their foreign counterparts. For example, our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi was once gifted a rather dope-looking pair of Maybach sunglasses, when India hosted a convoy of German delegates.

    Keeping this tradition in mind, the president of the United States, Joe Biden, gave Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, a cool pair of aviators, made out of 23 karat gold.

    Joe Biden has always been a fan of aviator styled sunglasses, and can often be seen wearing them, even when he was the vice-president to former President Obama.  

    Moreover, what is of interest, is that he doesn’t stick to a single brand - From RayBan to DKNY, he has been seen wearing a wide variety of brands.

    The sunglasses that Joe Biden gifted Putin, come from Randolph, a label that specialises in making sunglasses for the US Armed Forces. 

    The sunglasses that were gifted to President Putin, are called the Concorde Teardrop Sunglasses in 23k Gold. They start at $239 for a very basic set-up and go all the way up to $299 or roughly about Rs 23,000.

    The one that President Biden got for President Putin, apparently had some nifty personalisations which would make his particular sunglasses, a one-off.

    Randolph Engineering, the company that owns the Randolph Label, is seen as a proper, blue-blooded American brand. The company which was founded n 1973, makes these sunglasses by hand in a small town in Massachusetts. 

    Because these sunglasses are handbuild, they take about 6 weeks, and over 200 steps to make one pair.

    Randolph Engineering also supplies about 25000 pairs of sunglasses to the US Armed forces, every month. This is the reason, why many political pundits are going bonkers over the symbolism that is behind this gift.

    Say what you will but both the Presidents, Joe Biden & Vladimir Putin are men of style. 
    Joe Biden has always been a fan of the classic tear dropped aviator, and as we said, has often been spotted wearing a pair. 
    President Putin, on the other hand, is an avid watch collector and a horologist and owns some of the most sought after timepieces.

    You know you have achieved a separate level of stardom when the directors of some of the highest-grossing Marvel movies give you a shout-out. 
    Well, Dhanush, for one, surely must be proud.

    Anthony Russo & Joseph Russo, popularly known as the Russo Brothers, put out a tweet wishing Dhanush all the best for the premiere of his latest film, Jagame Thandhiram. 

    The Russo brothers are the creative geniuses behind some of Marvel’s best box office hits, which include Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

    For those who have been living under a rock all this while, Dhanush actually managed to get a role in The Gray Man, a movie that is being produced by Netflix, and which is being touted as the most expensive film that the streaming service has ever produced, with a budget of $200 million.

    In The Gray Man, Dhanush will be seen sharing the screen with Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans and  Wagner Moura, the guy who played Pablo Escobar in Narcos.

    Jagame Thandhiram is a gangster action film that was first announced back in 2016 and has been five years in the making. Naturally, for fans of Dhanush and of Tamil cinema, this is one of the most anticipated films of the year.

    The Russo Brothers referred to Dhanush as their “little brother” in the tweet, and wished Dhanush the best of luck. 

    Not just that, they also Tweeted out the link to the trailer and suggested their fans to watch the Tamil film, almost as an endorsement. Praise, really, doesn’t get any higher than that.

    The Indian National Congress alleged on Thursday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to suppress the voice of 140 more Indians with its new IT rules. 
    Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said that the Indian Government’s action on social media platforms is only aimed to 'suppress the freedom of speech expression of the Indian people'.

    The Congress spokesperson said this in the context of the government taking action against Twitter and removing it from any form of legal protection as an intermediary. 

    The Government has asked Twitter to comply with the new IT rules or officially known as the intermediary guidelines. 
    Twitter had received multiple warnings from the government and finally, lost its "safe harbour” protection in India over non-compliance.  
    Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad also blasted Twitter for “deliberately" choosing the path of non-compliance despite the government giving it multiple opportunities. 
    “It is astounding that Twitter which portrays itself as the flag bearer of free speech, chooses the path of deliberate defiance when it comes to the Intermediary Guidelines,”  Prasad said in a statement posted on Twitter.

    However, Surjewala said that Twitter does not write anything of its own and it is the people of the country who are writing against the government and its policies. 

    "Prime Minister Modi wants to suppress the voice of 140 crore Indians. It is the fight for the freedom of speech. Today, journalists in the country cannot write against this government, else they will lose their job or life. In such a situation, only YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, social platforms are left and Modi ji himself is the creation of such platforms," he told reporters. 
    "Twitter does not write anything of its own. It is the people of India -- the youth, the Dalits, the farmers, the poor -- who write against the government and criticise Modi ji, then they have problems. Now, they want to lock down every social media platform as well and this is their intention," the Congress leader said.

    Twitter did say earlier this week that the company has appointed an interim Chief Compliance Officer, however, it seems like it was too late for the social media giant to assuage tensions with the Indian government. 

    As of today, Twitter India MD has been summoned by the UP police and needs to report in within 7 days over the incident that happened in Ghaziabad.

    Anticipating a brilliant start to the World Test Championship final, the Indian cricket fans woke up early on Friday only to receive sad news about the rain gods taking full control of the Southampton sky since last evening and it has been raining incessantly ever since.
    Inconsistent English weather playing a spoilsport, there’s nothing new about it as it has been the norm in the country, but witnessing the same thing happen all over again, that too for a game of such magnitude, Indian fans were left even more infuriated.

    The supporters were not happy with the fact that the ICC didn’t do their homework and check the weather forecast, before deciding on shifting the match from the iconic Lord’s to a lesser-known venue like the Ageas Bowl.

    With forecasts predicting some degree of showers in the coming days, it has come as a huge disappointment for millions of fans who were waiting for this WTC cycle to come to fruition with this summit clash.
    So, as soon as BCCI secretary Jay Shah posted a message on Twitter lauding Team India’s “steely determination” and wishing Virat Kohli and his men for overcoming all sorts of challenges and scaling new heights in the last two years, the fans, instead of echoing the same sentiment, used the opportunity to vent out their anger.

    On a normal day, Shah would have got hundreds of similar replies on his post, but with the clouds of uncertainty looming large over the much-anticipated clash, fans were in no mood to reciprocate the same emotions.

    Three years after Dil Chahta Hai, Farhan Akhtar came up with yet another mind-blowing concept for a film and it was Lakshya. The movie talks about a slacker who later transforms into a fearless army officer. Farhan left no stone unturned in depicting the depth of this movie. Starring Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta, Lakshya is a film about self-discovery. It also talks about the ups and downs of life. The fictionalised tale narrates the story of the Kargil War quite poignantly.

    Meanwhile, on the work front, Farhan is all set to be seen on camera in his next venture, Toofan. The movie is said to be released digitally on July 16th. Directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, the movie also stars Paresh Rawal, Mrunal Thakur, Supriya Pathak Kapur, Vijay Raaz, Hussain Dalal and Darshan Kumar. The director and Farhan had also worked together earlier for Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. Toofan is a story of an orphan, who turns into a local goon. His life changes after he meets Ananya, who motivates him and then begins his journey as a boxing champion. The movie will release on Prime Video.
