On Sunday, 5th December 2016, the Indian women’s cricket team scripted history. The team, led by new captain Harmanpreet Kaur, won the Asia Cup for the sixth time, defeating arch-rivals Pakistan in Bangkok. This was the sixth consecutive Asia Cup title won by the Indian team and yet there was hardly any euphoria witnessed on social media or television.
That the Indian eves are overshadowed by the men in blue is common knowledge. Whatever opportunity that they get on the international stage, they are asked to make it count and even when they do come up triumphant, this is how they are treated by the mainstream media, let alone the administrators who have only just now woken up to the potential of women’s cricket.

For those wondering why it was such a big feat and why the Indian team needs to be applauded for the title win, here are some stats for the uninitiated –
    - This was the sixth consecutive Asian Cup title win for the Indian women’s cricket team, no other team has won the title since it began in 2004.
    - The Indian team has now stretched its unbeaten run in the tournament to 32 matches and by any standard it’s fucking huge.
    - India has now defeated Pakistan in the last two finals of the Asia Cup to clinch the title; they had also earlier defeated Pakistan in the league stage in this year’s tournament.

Mithali Raj, the veteran player who was at the helm of affairs in the Indian team for World T20, was the most impressive player for India. She scored 220 runs in four innings and was the top scorer in the tournament. The second in the list, Pakistan’s Javeria Khan had scored 128 runs in six innings. While this feat of Raj deserves all the accolades, the gender disparity in the same sport can be seen from this tweet of Virender Sehwag congratulating the Indian women’s team.
Congratulations Girls on beating Pakistan in the Women's #AsiaCup .
    The Girls played really well.
No Mauka for the opposition. pic.twitter.com/O0b5TTgVYq
    — Virender Sehwag (@virendersehwag) December 4, 2016 The number of retweets on this post by Sehwag is five times the number of followers on Mithali Raj’s twitter account. This goes on to show that no matter how well the Indian team performs, it still has a long way to go before even matching up to the popularity of India A men’s team. Till then, however, no matter the results we can at least stand up and applaud the hard work that the team put in to represent India on the international stage.

Bollywood kicked off its star-studded Awards season with The 2016 Star Screen Awards—hosted by former rivals...and now besties, Shah Rukh Khan and Bhai a.k.a Salman Khan. While most female actors took huge sartorial risks, our favorite Bollywood boys were, maybe for the first time, not far behind in the fashion department. There was everything from dramatic velvets to print-on-print ensembles, and, asymmetrical coats to biker-esque jackets.
Here are some of our favorites from last night:
    1. Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan © Viral Bhayani
The two biggest Bollywood stars stuck to classic cuts and age-appropriate colors on the Red Carpet
    2. Harshvardhan Kapoor © Viral Bhayani
Usually a risk-taker—thanks to stylist and sister Rhea Kapoor—Harsh Kapoor kept it cool and young in a dope patterned midnight blue blazer, paired with black pants, white shirt, and a tie.
    3. Varun Dhawan  © Viral Bhayani
Even though he took home the ‘Best Comic Actor’ award, Dhawan Jr’s outfit meant serious business. Styled by Archana Walavalkar, the Judwaa 2 star wore a custom-made forest green zipper suit by designer Arjun Kilachand. He finished his look off with tan loafers, white shirt, and a skinny tie.
    4. Rajneesh Duggal  © Viral Bhayani
Supermodel-turned-actor Rajneesh Duggal is hot. His suit with shiny lapel wasn’t!
    5. Sushant Singh Rajput  © Viral Bhayani
SSR is the poster-child for Indie brand, Antar Agni. And his totally offbeat jacket paired with cropped pants was a fresh look on the Red Carpet!
    6. Tahir Raj Bhasin  © Viral Bhayani
Even though the young actor’s puzzling expression (unfortunately) matched his crooked bowtie, his saving grace—a not-your-regular-velvet suit was a total knockout!
    7. Aditya Seal © Viral Bhayani
B-town’s new baby-faced heartthrob, Aditya Seal easily wore last night’s  best look. Shiny, patterned suit, with red accents and a pair of tasseled loafers? We are stealing this look for New Year’s Eve!
    8. Tiger Shroff © Viral Bhayani
Shroff Jr. paired his rather safe...umm classic Zegna suit with an unbuttoned shirt. Because body!

If there is one thing that is still breaking the internet and the common man’s back, it is demonetization. It’s been almost a month now and cash is still a rare sighting. All India Bakchod just made a video that sums up the life of every section of society struggling under demonetization. Of course, except the black money hoarders.
From the affluent middle class man sitting in the comfort of his house,
    © YouTube
To the corporate employee who goes cashless all the while supporting the ‘collateral damage’.
    © YouTube
The bank employee is the most sought-after person in the country right now.

But there is one who is at the receiving end of all the crazy, and still smiles because 'achche din'.

The last time when Salman Khan graced the couch on ‘Koffee With Karan’, the audience couldn’t get over his revelation of him being a ‘virgin’. He came, we saw him, and he conquered our minds for quite a while.
Is there any avatar of Salman that we don’t fancy? Be it watching him as Chulbul Pandey, as the Bigg Boss host, dancing at an awards ceremony or just being there for his fans and spending time with them, Salman rules the roost for everything that he is. Yet again, he is all set to swoon us on the couch with his brothers Sohail and Arbaaz, and by the looks of the teaser, this episode is going to be a firecracker!

Salman’s answer to Karan’s classic actress ranking question was straight and blunt. Without batting an eyelid, he said ‘1 to 4 Katrina Kaif’, and later, he even danced happily to ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’.

The brothers even disclosed that they shared their underwear with each other! We cannot get over how Salman can hit the bull’s eye, without getting cheeky and leave everyone laughing at his words. This one is definitely a must watch.

India is slowing becoming accustomed to same *** relationships but there is still a long way to go. Electronica producer Nanok has come out with a new music video for the track ‘Lay you down’ and the video features the super sexy, Monica Dogra and Anushka Manchanda. The two beautiful ladies are depicting a relationship between two lovers who lust for each other. The video displays different phases of a relationship and is a shot with the idea of removing taboos regarding same *** relationships, by showing the girls express their emotions via foreplay. Their chemistry is so amazing that you will definitely watch it till the end. Don’t believe us? See for yourself!

They roasted the who’s who of the Bollywood last year. They have spared no one. But there is one person even All India Bakchod is scared of raosting – that’s none other than Bollywood’s wittiest star, Shah Rukh Khan.
The king of hearts is also the king of wit, and there’s no doubt about it. Two of the most popular comedians of the country, Tanmay Bhat and Rohan Joshi, just confessed how trolling Shah Rukh Khan might be toughest thing to do. Speaking on Zoom’s show ‘Yaar Mera Superstar’, the two confessed how it is impossible to troll Shah Rukh. We are not surprised!
I dont Think anyone of us hav ever heard Tanmay Bhatt @thetanmay & Rohan @mojorojo talking like this for anyone #SRK pic.twitter.com/leWHO539nc
    — Carnival Of Rust (@NextToSRK) December 4, 2016 “It’s a good thing he became an actor. Because if he were a standup comedian, hum sab ki band bajata yeh aadmi, yaar!” Rohan Joshi says. Clearly, Shah Rukh is a man of many talents. You can’t not win at life when you are that sharp and charming.
    © Filmfare
Expressing their unfulfilled desire to roast Shah Rukh, they spoke about how they actually fear the man because instead of being roasted, he could totally annihilate the roaster without batting an eyelid. Shah Rukh, says Rohan Joshi, ‘is one of those people who, after you are done roasting him, will get up and destroy you right back.”
Shah Rukh graciously responded to the compliment and tweeted this:
U guys make me blush. @thetanmay & @mojorojo  keep on being as talented as you are and spread laughs. https://t.co/vrUu11XAHb
    — Shah Rukh Khan (@iamsrk) December 4, 2016 Considering how Shah Rukh Khan has time and again disarmed many with his kickass comebacks, it’s no surprise that he is fully capable of roasting the roast champions of the country.

The highly-touted El Clasico showdown between Real Madrid and Barcelona is undoubtedly one of the biggest spectacles in football. The streets are likely to be abandoned, social spots implode with football fanatics and fans are found glued to the TV screens, such is the impact of their titanic clash.
So, when the two Spanish giants locked horns in their 173rd La Liga Clasico on Saturday, the scenes and tension amongst the fans were expectedly similar. The fans from both sides rallied behind their respective teams as they nervously watched things unfold at Camp Nou.
    © AP
The first-half was far from what Clasicos in the past have witnessed. The first 45 minutes lacked intensity as the hosts looked a bit dazed. On the other hand, Madrid - who were six points clear at the top - also appeared content with the slow start.
If it wasn't for the second-half, the Sunday's clash would have surely gone down as one of the most boring Clasicos we've witnessed lately. Luis Suarez's goal got the Luis Enrique side ahead only to see Sergio Ramos nullifying it in the dying minutes. It was definitely not the kind of Clasico we've been hoping for.
stress level: shakira watching el clasico pic.twitter.com/VLFQ1nGZ2N
    — . (@neymardontshoot) December 3, 2016 But, even if the clash didn't really live up to the billing, considering the boring 1-1 draw at the end, the bad-tempered Clasico got the Camp Nou crowd excited nonetheless. And one spectator in particular was completely taken over by the players' exploits on the field.
Alongside other high-profile spectators at Camp Nou, Gerrard Pique's better-half, Shakira, looked completely possessed by the game. She was at her animated-best while cheering for her footballer husband and his teammates.
From celebrating the Barcelona goal to almost appearing like she was having an orgasm, Shakira was seen doing it all far away from the football pitch. But, we don't really blame her.
After all, when your husband is Pique and you know the post-match dinner will depend on the outcome of the clash, you ought to look engrossed - even if you practically know nothing about the game.

There is a very high chance that the fake iPhone charger you are using currently is highly unsafe. A study by British business watchdog Trading Standards, claims that 99% of counterfeit Apple chargers that are purchased online have one thing in common; they all have a very high probability of failing a very simple and basic test.
The researchers purchased around 400 Apple chargers from various retailers around the globe and put them through tests to see if they would pass the minimum required safety standards. Out of the 400 chargers, 397 of them failed.
Most fake chargers are known to be the cause behind phones overheating which is very disconcerting as these overheating issues are known to have caused house fires in the past. Apple filed a lawsuit against online retailers after it was discovered that 90% of iPhone chargers sold on online retail websites like Amazon are fake.
If you are one of those people who have bought an iPhone charging cable online, we suggest you dump it right now and get yourself an original charger. Not only does it cause overheating but recently we discovered it also messes with your battery life.

If you have ever watched the ‘Titanic’, shed silent tears when it sunk but also fancied the grandeur, then you might get a chance to live that dream because if ever there is an original that is dreamy, then you can always trust the Chinese to replicate it. China announced a replica of the original Titanic ship called the ‘New Titanic’ and is meant to be a tourist attraction.

The copy is being touted as a mirror copy of the original ‘Titanic’, will have a ball room and a magnificent theatre. The guests on board can not just experience the grandeur, but can actually stay in the ship as well.

In a recent interview, Schnell explained, “‘we’re trying to get as close as we can. We are not building every room in the ship, by any means, but the shell of the ship and the exteriors will be quite accurate, there will be interior rooms to be able to tour and see from the standpoint of historical accuracy”.

The average cost for this shenanigan for a night would be an estimate $345. The original ‘Titanic’ sank in 1912 and around 1500 people lost their lives in the tragedy. The 984 foot vessel is being built by the Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Co.

Motorola has decided that it will not be manufacturing smartwatches anytime soon as they want to call a time-out on wearables.  The reason why Motorola will be discontinuing smartwatches is simple, business around the Android Wear has been slow and not what people at the top were expecting it to be.
Motorola’s vice president of wearables, Shakil Barkat told The Verge that they do not “see enough pull in the market to put a (smartwatch) out at this time”. Moto makes some fantastic smartwatches as the Moto 360 is considered one of the most revered and good-looking smartwatch out there. However, this isn’t the final fate of the Moto 360 range but it is a sign that Lenovo Moto will take their sweet time if they want to launch a new smartwatch in the near future.
“Wearables do not have broad enough appeal for us to continue to build on it year after year,” Barkat explained.
Google’s new Android Wear update i.e. Android Wear 2 has been delayed and it is one of the biggest reason why it is a deterrent for companies to launch new smartwatches ahead of the update.
    © BCCL
Sales of smartwatches have been experiencing a slump in general and Apple is holding the majority of the wearable market. Garmin is also another brand that has been selling extremely well while other companies are suffering due to the decline in sales. The International Data Corporation reports that smartwatch supply and shipments have declined by 51.6% this year.
Thanks to all the data and Lenovo Moto’s move to discontinue their wearable line, it is interesting to see if other companies will follow suit.

If Virat Kohli is India's prized-possession in the modern-era of cricket, then Steve Smith is surely Australia's go-to-man in a crisis situration. He is one of the best in the business with the bat, potent with his left-arm spin and, literally, a livewire in the field. There's barely anything Smith cannot do.
The exploits of the 27-year-old cricketer were, once again, at full display during Australia's 68-run win over New Zealand in the first ODI at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on 4 December.
    Absolute stunner by @stevesmith49 @AltCricket pic.twitter.com/HoZSfONvUp
    — Naveed (@cre8ivegraphix) December 5, 2016 The right-hander smashed a breathtaking 164 and took an absolute blinder to reinforce his position as the heart and soul for his side. At a time when the hosts were reeling at the loss of four wickets for 92 runs, Smith took the mantle and stitched a crucial partnership of 127 runs with Travis Head (52) for the fifth wicket.
If it wasn't for Smith's blitzkrieg, Australia would have surely crumbled to a score much less than their 324-run total. His 164-run knock is now the highest by any batsman at the SCG - a venue that has hosted 153 ODIs, only behind Sharjah (226 ODIs).
    © AP
As he slammed 14 exquisite fours and four towering sixes, Smith also brought up his 1,000 ODI runs in 2016. After his fellow countryman David Warner, he is only the second batsman to do so. His vital innings is now the fourth-highest by any player against New Zealand in ODIs.
Sachin Tendulkar's 186-run knock is the highest by any player against the Kiwis followed by Australia's Matthew Hayden (181*) and South Africa's Dave Callaghan (169*).
Smith's was the fourth highest ODI score by an Australian on home soil, the seventh highest ODI score by an Australian and the best 50-ver innings of his professional career.

While he was expectedly majestic with the bat, Smith also became the source of inspiration for his side when the Kiwis were staging a comeback at 140/3. The Australian skipper took a spectacular one-handed catch at backward point to dismiss Bradley-John Watling (6) to thwart the opposition from posing any danger.
At close range, with his wrong arm managing to keep the ball in his hand. It was as good a catch as you'll see in that position. Surely, one of the all-time great grabs from Smith.
Will it go down as one of the great catches by an Australian cricketer? We'll leave that for you to decide. Here are a few other contenders to help you make up your mind:
    Glenn McGrath against England, 2002

Ricky Ponting against New Zealand, 2008

Steve Waugh against West Indies, 1989

John Dyson against West Indies, 1982

The consequences of demonetisation are all around us and amidst the various situations and incidents that have been coming to light, some have been funny and some have been pretty saddening. While the government is urging us to go cashless and use plastic money, the value of Rs. 10, 50 and 100 notes have gone up. Suddenly a 5-rupee coin is a prized possession. One such funny incident is doing the rounds on social media. A user took to Facebook to post a picture of a 5 rupee cheque that was given to a public toilet in Madurai in Tamil Nadu.

It is not known how authentic this is, but it highlights a situation that is funny but points out the current sad reality. The country has been asked to go cashless but then desperate times call for desperate measures. Imagine issuing a cheque for 10 bucks the next time you need to buy a chocolate!

It's been over eight years since we saw Sourav Ganguly with a bat in his hand. One of the most successful Indian captains, Ganguly has been missed by cricket fans as much as the great Sachin Tendulkar. While his flambouyant square cuts got everyone drooling, his exquisite cover drives equally got the commentators excited.
Though we aren't going to see the Prince of Kolkata playing in the Indian colours again, fans will surely be ecstatic to see his latest exploits on the streets of North Kolkata in what appears to be 'Dadagiri' in gully cricket.
The president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) took some time from his busy schedule to join some neighbourhood boys in a game of gully cricket in the narrow streets of Kolkata.

For a cricketer who retired from professional cricket in 2008, Ganguly's poise and great footwork will undoubtedly take fans back to the old glory days. From straight drives and hook shots to hard cuts and lofted shots, the southpaw can be seen playing them all.
While the locals were all worried about their window panes, no one reaaly seemed to complain as they understandably became mere spectators to Ganguly's artistry.
The video also proves that no matter where he wields the willow, the sight of Ganguly playing his shots with the same grace and elegance, even today, is more than what a cricket-frenzied fan could ask for. So, thank you, Dada!

Aamir Khan’s transformation for ‘Dangal’ set the internet ablaze last week. Today, UTV Motion Pictures dropped another video of how the leading girls of ‘Dangal’, Sana Sheikh, Sanya Malhotra and child actors Zaira Waseem and Sanya Bhatnagar were trained to come as close as possible to a professional wrestler. Well, at least on screen. The video showcases the journey of all the four girls working from scratch to training like professional female wrestlers. It took them nearly a year long of grueling training, strict diet check and a number of injuries to look like tigresses on the screen. A brief look at the trailer is self-explanatory about the hard work these girls have put in.

All these girls had none to hardly any fitness background. They had never trained like a regular gym-goer, let alone training like a wrestler. Wrestling, in particular, is a combat sport that requires immense strength and will power. Training for wrestling is equally challenging and taxing on the body. From working out and training 6 straight days a week, these women came up as ‘almost amateur’ professional wrestlers.  Here, check out the video.

Iceland’s most radical political party is expected to take control of Iceland’s government and might replace the current coalition that is ruling. The opposition in its entirety has agreed to hold elections earlier than usual, thanks to the Panama Papers scandal that were leaked earlier in October.

The Pirate party practises ‘direct democracy’ and wants to encourage greater government transparency, an asylum for US whistleblower Edward Snowden and a new constitution. The party has been on top of every opinion poll that has been conducted in every constituency across the nation.

The election is expected to be held in October 2017 as the former Prime Minister Sigmundur Davio Gunnlaugsson resigned earlier this year in April. He was the first victim of the Panama Papers leak and there were documents that revealed that he had millions of pounds of money that was stashed offshore.

President Gudni Johannesson made the announcement after meeting Birgitta Jonsdottir, who is the head of the Pirate political party.
    YouTube
"Earlier today I met with the leaders of all parties and asked their opinion on who should lead those talks. After that I summoned Birgitta Jonsdottir and handed her the mandate," he told reporters.
The pirate party was founded four years ago by a group of hackers and activists as they spearheaded the anti-copyright movement and later transformed into a political party. Iceland’s Pirates attained over 5% of the vote in the 2013 elections and won 3 seats in the 63 member parliament.
There is a clear consensus that the people of Iceland want to vote against the establishment, as the party’s appeal is very much similar to Syriza in Greece and Spain’s Podemos.

It has been three years since the party was established and the people of Iceland are connecting to the party’s policy of transforming their democracy and transparency. The Pirate party is not really clear about their policies but it is not acting as a deterrent.

Iceland’s citizens feel that there is a cronyism endemic in Icelandic politics and the impunity of the wealthy few support the Pirate Party has skyrocketed in the recent past.

The Pirate party is built on the belief that new and updated technologies will help in promoting civic engagement and also increase government transparency. They believe that the citizens of Iceland have ‘unlimited right’ to be involved in Politics and political decisions. They want ordinary citizens to promote new legislation and also take part in referendums.

If you’ve never seen or heard him play before, you’d think I’m talking about some international established musician (http://www.mensxp.com/culture/music/32822-10-artists-you-shouldn-t-miss-out-on-at-the-nh7-weekender-shillong-this-year.html). He is established enough to earn a place among the artists lined up for weekender, yes. But, he isn’t international.

Manan Gupta is a musician from Meerut who learnt the art of making music with his guitar in just three years’ time. He has created a fan following by uploading his music on his YouTube channel and by composing for television advertisements.
The best part about his music is his guitar skills. It’s not just in the way he strums the instrument; but it is, indeed, in just the way he strums the guitar. It’s a pleasure watching him perform and an absolute joy to hear him play.
Catch him live to witness bass, rhythm and melody emanate from a single guitar, only at Bacardi NH7 Weekender, Pune!

Trevor Noah is the host of The Daily Show, where he replaced John Stewart earlier this year since he retired. He had been covering the US election in a very sardonic manner and his show was one of the most watched on American television during that period.
However, his recent episode titled ‘Irony of India’, Trevor Noah criticised the demonetisation scheme that was recently enacted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Some of his comments were just simply distasteful and he was trying too hard to be funny.
He even tried to make fun of the recent Supreme Court directive that made it compulsory for every cinema hall to play the National Anthem before the screening of every movie. Sometimes, we understand that comedians like to poke fun at everything controversial but this latest episode of ‘The Daily Show’ was not really that funny and his arguments were simply pointless. Comment below if you agree with us.

Comedians make a living out of telling real life experiences that we all might have gone through and then add their own flavour to make it funny and ironic. Rahul Subramanian is one of the comedians that excel at it.
Never has been a mundane experience like going through a breakup or a studying for your exams has been funny or fun until you hear Rahul Subramanian's account. He recently performed his break up routine at a bar and it seems like he says the exact same things that we all think in our head but never thought it would be funny.
Life experiences can be hard and sometimes frustrating, it is something that can be different for everybody but there are some experiences we all have in common. So if you want to know how our experiences can be hilarious, we suggest you see his performance.

A group of engineering students procured admission into the Manipal Institute of Technology and they discovered a few projects that were up for grabs when they joined.
The students call themselves ‘ThrustMIT’ and the recruitment for the project is open for first-year students. Advisor Srinivas G, a faculty member from the Aeronautical Engineering department, is overlooking the project.
Amogh Govil is the head of the student team and said “sounding rockets are basically research oriented rockets, which carry a scientific payload 50-1500 kilometres above the surface of the earth. Altitude is generally between that of aeroplanes and satellites. Their small size allows them to be launched from temporary launch sites.”

    Bangalore Mirror
He further added, “ThrustMIT is working on a sounding rocket which will be around 8 feet tall, attain an apogee of around 10,000 feet and carry a payload of at least 8.8 lbs (4 kgs). We will use a solid propellant for propulsion. We will be employing a flight computer on board our rocket to monitor the flight path.”

Another team member Surya added that the competition that is held in the U.S. Experimental Sounding Rocket Association (ESRA) every year have a few constraints that need to be followed. Rockets with a payload of 8 pounds and can reach up to 30,000 feet above ground level are allowed to participate. Rockets tend to be multistage rockets and are typically 4 to 12 inches in diameter. It can use different forms of propulsion systems i.e. liquid, solid and hybrids.

“The goal right now is to be successful in the 2018 competition. Though initially, we wanted to participate in the upcoming competition this summer, we finally decided against it as we wanted to be there fully prepared and have already started working in this direction,” said Surya.
