  1. Mark Zuckerberg entered 2018 by making a promise of fixing Facebook. Well, we all can agree that it didn't go as planned. In fact, 2018 was the year in which Facebook was embroiled in controversies like the Cambridge Analytica scandal. Amidst all that, the company's CEO Mark Zuckerberg saw his wealth fall down by a huge margin. © Reuters Mark's net worth fell by $9 billion in 2018 and he slipped three places on the Forbes 2018 global billionaires list. (https://www.forbes.com/billionaires/#490e7b9b251c) According to Forbes, Mark's estimated net worth is $62.3 billion, down from $71 billion last year. Facebook itself lost more than a fifth of its value, as it endured data breaches and government investigations. As the CEO of Facebook, who owns nearly 17-per cent of the stock, it's not really all that surprising to see his net worth taking a dip. Mark Zuckerberg is now the eighth richest person in the world, compared to his fifth position last year. The top three spots in the list, however, remained unchanged. © Reuters Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is in the first place with an estimated net worth of $131 billion. He is followed by Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffet with an estimated net worth of $95.6 billion and $82.5 billion respectively. Other noteworthy names in the list include India's Mukesh Ambani and Kylie Jenner, who's now dubbed the youngest self-made billionaire.
  2. We don't need to remind you how the whirlwind romance of Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas managed to flood our timelines all day, every day for a while back there. So much so, that even those who could not care less about the couple, knew literally everything about their story. What started as casual dating from the Met Gala turned into a beautiful relationship, as they got engaged on August 18th with a traditional Roka ceremony in Mumbai. © Instagram Priyanka and Nick, at present, are simply enjoying their time together as a newly-engaged couple and the shutterbugs can't get enough of them. From vacationing at happening destinations to planning romantic getaways at their favourite spot in the Mammoth Mountain, California, they are living a beautiful life indeed. While Nick has spent a lot of his time there, this was the first time he took Priyanka along with him. A man and the mountains. ð· @priyankachopra A post shared by Nick Jonas (@nickjonas) on Sep 2, 2018 at 4:12pm PDT Speaking of vacations, they do seem to be on a roll don't they? And here we can't even afford to be jealous of them! © Instagram © Instagram © Instagram The duo made their first appearance together at the Met Gala, where they met and walked for Ralph Lauren. Talking about how they actually met, our Desi girl told Jimmy Kimmel in an interview, "Yeah, we were on the same table and we already knew each other. So he was like 'Hey, you wanna go together?' And I was like 'Yeah, OK, let's go together'. It ended up working out." © Instagram Both Nick and Priyanka have aced in their respective professional lives and have millions of fans across the globe. While Nick is an acclaimed pop singer, Priyanka, on the other hand, after ruling the Indian film industry, is now eyeing to conquer Hollywood as well. Priyanka, who does not know the meaning of taking a backseat, has been on the rise ever since she came into the spotlight. In 2000 she was crowned as Miss World and since then, she has only soared further in her career. 12 years of knowing these girls and in minutes they get all love struck by the #lovebug... thank you @nickjonas and our families. Thank you to the sisters and all the girls at St. Catherine's orphanage for opening your hearts to us again. I'll see you next time A post shared by Priyanka Chopra (@priyankachopra) on Aug 20, 2018 at 5:05am PDT From being an actor, a singer to even starting her own production house Purple Pebble, she has donned many hats and has mastered them all. In 2017, we saw her being ranked 97 in the Forbes list of most powerful women in the world. As per reports, PeeCee's yearly income is around $10 million (Rs 64 crores) and her net worth is estimated to be at $28 million (Rs 200 crore). A post shared by PC_globaldomination (@pc_globaldomination) on Sep 2, 2018 at 3:31pm PDT Priyanka gets a major chunk of her earnings from the movies she picks. She has also changed the brand game and represents many brands across the globe. She has done over 50 films and her career in the West is soaring high. She has worked in Hollywood movies like 'Baywatch', 'A Boy Like Jake' and was the lead character in the ABC series 'Quantico'. In her latest Hollywood project, she is soon to be seen in the upcoming rom-com 'Isn't It Romantic', starring Liam Hemsworth, Rebel Wilson, and Adam DeVine. More candids from yesterday's party ðâ¤ï¸ #priyankachopra #nickjonas #nickyanka #priyankanickengagement A post shared by Priyanka&Nick (@nickyanka18) on Aug 19, 2018 at 4:02am PDT Nick Jonas, on the other hand, has a net worth of $25 million (Rs 171 crore). Jonas has also ventured in acting and was seen in 'Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle'. However, we can't help but wonder how many zeroes will be added to their cheque in case they star together in a project? Pretty sure it will result in more fabulous vacations that we can only dream of going on.
  3. While America is still struggling to retain Net Neutrality, India has taken a step forward to ensure that the internet continues to remain discrimination-free. The new changes in the policy mean that telecom operators will not be able to block, throttle, or zero-rate internet data. The move comes after TRAI's (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) recommendation stating that internet service providers cannot engage in “any form of discrimination or interference” in data connections. The Department of Telecommunication has adopted the new policy and an amendment will be made to the licence agreement, that all ISPs are required to sign. © Reuters What is Net Neutrality? It is a basic principle that ensures the internet service providers treat all the data passing through its network, equally. Meaning, if you have "Plan A" and another user has "Plan B", the two can have a varying bandwidth and transfer speeds. The ISP cannot charge users of Plan A to access a certain website separately, while Plan B gets free access or even throttle data speeds accordingly. Net Neutrality ensures that websites, platforms or users are not discriminated. This way, everything on the internet gets equal priority and one entity cannot have any undue advantage. © Quartz Media A few years ago, Facebook had released its "Free Basics" platform which gave users free access to their partners. Here, one of the partners meant Facebook, hence, users were not liable to pay any data charges when accessing Facebook, but had to pay when using another non-partner website like Twitter. Experts have often stressed that if Net Neutrality is not enforced, bigger established companies can tie-up with telcos and create a vacuum. If you are able to stream Service A for free without any data charges, will you access Service B that does not have a partnership with the telco? Also, imagine having to buy packages to access WhatsApp, and then separately paying more for Viber or Telegram. © Reuters There are few exceptions though, services like autonomous driving, telemedicine or remote diagnostic services may get prioritised internet fast lanes, as they are categorised as "critical services". This is similar to Ambulances getting priority and a little free hand on the road during emergencies. Industry analysts say, that the new changes in the policy will help maintain a fair playing ground for startups. At the end of the day, this is a big win for everyone who uses the internet, right from companies to the end user.
