In his address to nation on Friday morning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made an announcement that even though was being sought after for months by thousands of hopeful farmers, still came as a big surprise and relief to many, including lots of celebrities from the film industry who have welcomed PM Modi’s decision to repeal three farm laws, with open arms and open minds.
Farmers that had been protesting against the three farm laws for over a year and were demanding a rollback of the Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
On the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti, PM Modi addressed the nation as he said, “Today I want to tell everyone that we have decided to repeal all three farm laws."
This is a wonderful news!
Thank you,@narendramodi ji, @PMOIndia, for taking back the farm laws. Thank you, farmers, for raising just demands through peaceful protests. Hope you will happily return to be with your families on the Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji today.
Actor Sonu Sood shared a tweet over the good news as he wrote, “This is a wonderful news! Thank you, @narendramodi ji, @PMOIndia, for taking back the farm laws. Thank you, farmers, for raising just demands through peaceful protests. Hope you will happily return to be with your families on the Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji today."

Other actors like Taapsee Pannu, Richa Chadha, Urmila Matondkar and even Priyanka Chopra Jonas lauded the decision and tweeted on the matter.
Grateful to @narendramodi for repealing the Farm Laws, finally.
I wish we didn’t have to let the impasse last this long, cause so many lives to be lost. And demonise, debase, delegitimise the Farm Protest and the protestors.#Farmlawsrepealed 1/2
Dia Mirza wrote, "Jai Kisaan #GuruPurab," while Gul Panag tweeted, “I wish we didn't have to let the impasse last this long, cause so many lives to be lost. And demonise, debase, delegitimise the Farm Protest and the protestors. #Farmlawsrepealed."
Meanwhile, actress Kangana Ranaut had opposing views to Prime Minister’s decision of repealing the law as she called the move, “Sad, shameful and absolutely unfair."

In response to a user, Ranaut wrote, “If people on the street have started to make laws and not the chosen government in the parliament then even this is a jihadi nation... Congratulations to all who wanted it like this." Guess, while the country witnesses and celebrates certain changes, there will always be some things (and some people) who won’t change.
