Pakistani actor Fawad Khan rose to prominence with his roles in shows like Zindagi Gulzar Hai and films like Khuda Kay Liye. 

His TV show, in particular, made him popular across the border as well and in 2014, he made his Bollywood debut with Khoobsurat opposite Sonam Kapoor. 

Post Khoobsurat’s success, Fawad Khan became the talk of the town and was cast alongside Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra and Rishi Kapoor in the 2016 hit Kapoor & Sons. 

The movie and Fawad’s performance received immense critical acclaim. Later, in the year, he was also seen in a cameo in Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.

However, the very same year, he along with other Pakistani artists in India, was banned from working in Bollywood. An unofficial ban, actually. 

Now, the actor is headed to Hollywood and has joined the biggest international franchise Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). There were rumours that he has been roped in to play a part in Marvel Studios’ upcoming Disney+ series, Ms Marvel. 

In a recent interview with Film Companion, Fawad was asked if he has actually joined MCU, to which he replied in affirmative. He said, “Yeah, I am. Woh toh main deny nahi kar sakta, ab toh main jhooth nahi bol sakta, woh toh unhone khud news laga di hai (I can’t deny that or lie about it because they have put out the news themselves).”

While he didn’t reveal anything about the character he is playing in the show, he did share his experience of working on it. He stated, “It’s a wonderful experience, it was good fun. The cast that I worked with, the people that I worked with, it was good fun, but I am sorry, I cannot say anything more than that at this point in time.” 

Fawad Khan isn’t the only South Asian actor in Ms Marvel. Bollywood actor Mohan Kapur will be seen playing lead character Kamala Khan/Ms Marvel’s father.

It has also been rumoured that Farhan Akhtar too is a part of the show. However, he had played coy and gave a cryptic response when asked about his involvement in the show. He had told Eastern Eye, “Well, I have read that too, that’s all I can say.”  

Ms Marvel stars Iman Vellani in the lead role. The show is slated to release on Disney+ Hotstar in India in the summer of 2022.
