From Kartik To Kriti: 5 Bollywood Actors Who Made Their OTT Debut In 2021


Many big Bollywood films including Bhuj: The Pride Of India, Shershaah among others got released digitally amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic this year. Due to this, some of the biggest Bollywood names too made their digital debut in 2021 making fans elated. While some will be entering the OTT space next year.

However, only a few actors made their presence felt with their films and performances on the streaming platforms. As 2021 is finally coming to an end, let's take a look at Bollywood celebrities who made their digital debut this year:

Ajay Devgn (Bhuj: The Pride of India) View this post on Instagram

Directed by Abhishek Dudhaiya, Ajay Devgn-starrer Bhuj: The Pride of India was released on Disney+Hotstar in August this year. The film, also featuring Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Ammy Virk, Nora Fatehi among others, received mixed reviews. However, Devgn's performance as Squadron leader Vijay Karnik was praised. He has also signed a web series with the same OTT platform titled Rudra: The Edge of Darkness. The series is expected to premiere on Disney+Hotstar next year.Β

Shershaah, the biopic of Param Vir Chakra-awardee Captain Vikram Batra, was released in August this year on Amazon Prime Video and turned out to be a huge success. Featuring Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani in lead roles, the war drama got rave reviews from critics and fans alike. The film's music too was praised. While Kiara had been a part of various digital projects in the past like Lust Stories and Laxmii, Shershaah marked Sidharth's OTT debut.Β

After a long wait for the theatres to reopen, Kriti Sanon-starrer Mimi, at last, premiered on Netflix in July. The film tells the story of a surrogate mother, played by Kriti, and marked her entry into the digital space. She delivered her career's best performance till now in Mimi.Β 

Kartik Aaryan (Dhamaka) View this post on Instagram

Helmed by Neerja fame Ram Madhvani, Dhamaka was released on Netflix in November and emerged as a big success. Kartik Aaryan, who played the role of journalist Arjun Pathak in the film, proved his mettle as an actor once again. Dhamaka also features Mrunal Thakur and Amruta Subhash in pivotal roles.

Raveena Tandon (Aranyak) View this post on Instagram

Bollywood's 'Mast Mast' girl Raveena, who was last seen in the 2017 film Shab, made her digital debut recently with the Netflix series Aranyak. Her performance as police officer Kasturi Dogra got acclaim from fans. Raveena will next be seen in KGF 2 featuring Yash in the lead role.Β
