In a recent interview, Kriti Sanon opened up about the failure of her 2017 film Raabta and how she and the lead actor Sushant Singh Rajput had sulked about it over wine along with the director Dinesh Vijan while they discussed why the film failed.
While the music of the film was a hit, the execution failed to click with the audience.
Moreover, before the release itself, the film was in trouble over a legal suit filed by Allu Arjun’s father producer Allu Aravind.

He had accused the makers of Raabta of plagiarism saying that the movie has copied their 2009 blockbuster Magadheera directed by SS Rajamouli.
Allu Aravind had also released a statement about the same stating that they have filed a legal suit against the film as they have come to know through various sources including promos and publicity materials that Raabta is an unofficial copy of Magadheera.

Later, the decision went in favour of Raabta as Allu Aravind decided to withdraw the case.
The producer had then released a statement saying they have “settled the legal dispute amicably outside the court”.

Raabta director Dinesh Vijan was happy with the win but stated that he had offered the makers of Magadheera to watch Raabta but they refused.
He told Forbes, “I see Bollywood and the southern film industries as one industry, and I’ve directed films before, and I’ve never copied anything. These things don’t need to go to court. I had offered a screening of Raabta for the makers of Magadheera, but they didn’t see it. [The issue] could’ve been dealt with a month earlier had they watched the film. A lawsuit does create panic and it’d be very silly if I say that it doesn’t bother me.”

In the end, nothing mattered as the film was rejected by the audience and was deemed a disaster at the box office. Made on a budget of Rs 47 crore, it only collected Rs 33 crore globally.
