CVC Capital is said to have recruited a few agencies to come up with a suitable name for the Ahmedabad franchise ahead of the Indian Premier League's 2022 season (IPL). The Ahmedabad franchise has also requested that the agencies adopt a name that reflects Gujarat's history. The challenge of coming up with a suitable name for the Ahmedabad franchise has been assigned to an agency called Vector.

Although new companies and franchises hire agencies all over the world to come up with names that are catchy, marketable and well in sync with the organisations’ core values, the Ahmedabad franchise was heavily trolled for not being able to do it without spending extra money.

As soon as the news went online, the fans of the Indian Premier League started trolling the unnamed squad and asked them to take tips from the Lucknow franchise who are making an excellent marketing campaign out of their process of name-revealing and the overall brand awareness:

The Lucknow franchise has had a huge head-start in terms of engaging with fans and cricket enthusiasts from all over the world. Despite not officially announcing their name, they have been regular in talking about cricket, both international and domestic and they have been running campaigns about revealing their name in bits and pieces.

As far as the Ahmedabad team is concerned, their social media presence is negligible and there’s little to no interaction with the fans so far. The only development about the franchise that is known to the world is that they have bought Hardik Pandya to be their captain and reinforced the core of the team with all-rounder Rashid Khan and opening batter Shubman Gill.

Former Indian left-arm seamer Ashish Nehra is also expected to be named as the franchise's head coach. Nehra has also appeared in 88 IPL matches, taking 106 wickets at an average of 18.0. Vikram Solanki, a former England batter, could be named the franchise's Director of Cricket Operations. Despite the fact that Solanki represented England, he is of Indian descent.

With the Motera stadium, which is the world’s biggest cricket ground, being established in Ahmedabad, the city and the new team are expected to be massive crowd-pullers and by signing some of the most charismatic players in the league, they have finally started to create some buzz around themselves.
