SRK’s Concept Of India In This Old Interview Is Why He Shouldn’t Be Subjected To Communal Hate

Shah Rukh Khan has time and again proved his love for the country but he has been subjected to communal hate several times. A few days ago, he was trolled for spitting on Lata Mangeshkar’s mortal remains. In the video, he is seen saying a prayer, lifting his mask and blowing sideways- a gesture typically adapted by Muslims while praying for the departed. He read a ‘dua’ as a matter of respect but he was bashed heavily.

We will tell you why people shouldn’t bash him because of his religion and there is a reason he has managed to win the tag of King Khan. It’s his generosity and positive thoughts that set him apart from all the other celebs.

In a 1997 interview with the actor, Khan addressed issues on the freedom of speech, freedom of the press and anti-national elements; issues that remain relevant even today. In the video, Farida Jalal is seen asking SRK about the political scenario of this era. He added that his father Mir Taj Mohammed Khan was one of the youngest freedom fighters of the country.

Here’s a snippet of the 1997 interview:

He also said that his father would tell him not to take his freedom for granted. He said, “Now, I understand, after having grown up, that this freedom he was talking about was in terms of poverty, maybe; freedom from misery."

Khan also mentioned how patriotism is instilled in schools, saying that writing essays like 'My Country, India' but it needs to be done in a way that we don’t own it. He added that "anti-nationals" are people who "don't think they are part of India," and they are "somehow destroying" the country.

He said, “Although I'm not directly affiliated to politics or any kind of party," adding, "whenever I read, it does bring this little sadness that it takes away from what my father told me: 'Keep this country free, the way I gave it to you.'.”

We completely agree with him and believe he shouldn’t be subjected to communal hate.

Back in 2015, his statements about religious intolerance in the country being the worst crime created a stir.

Now, he chooses to remain silent but that doesn’t give people the right to rob him of his dignity. He has stood for the country and has helped flood victims, women who are the victims of acid attacks and many other unprivileged human beings.
