Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur-starrer Jersey was the first film to get postponed amid the Omicron scare after the debacle of Ranveer Singh's 83. Since then, fans were eagerly waiting for the new release date. Well, their wait has come to an end as the actor has finally announced the date. Taking to social media, the Haider star has revealed that the much-awaited movie will finally hit the theatres during the Baisakhi weekend, on April 14.

For the unversed, Laal Singh Chaddha was all set to release on April 14. However, the makers have now pushed it to August 11 stating that they "are unable to complete the film in time".

As soon as the makers of the Aamir Khan-starrer made an official announcement, the Jersey team booked the same date. Now, Shahid will be fighting it out with Yash-starrer KGF 2 at the box office.  

Shahid fans are elated with the release date announcement and a section of social media users are saying that he is gutsier than Aamir since he avoided a clash with KGF 2. Some of them aren’t happy with the news and are saying that the Jersey team has chosen the wrong date.

For the unversed, Jersey is the official Hindi remake of Nani's Telugu hit with the same name. The film tells the story of an ex-cricketer who wants to fulfill his son's wish of acquiring a Jersey but is struggling to make ends meet. Shahid will be seen playing the role of a cricketer in it.
