Deepika Padukone-starrer Gehraiyaan, also featuring Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday, and Dhairya Karwa, premiered on Amazon Prime Video around 10 days back and instantly became the talk of the town. Directed by Kapoor & Sons fame Shakun Batra, the film is getting polarising reactions. While a section of viewers liked the film, others failed to connect with the storyline and didn't like the plot twist in the second half.
View this post on InstagramTalking about the film, in a recent interview, Shakun has revealed that he received abusive emails, criticising Gehraiyaan. In a conversation with film critic Sucharita Tyagi on her YouTube channel, he said, "I had an e-mail where the subject was B****d (a Hindi cuss word). Then the mail just said, 'B****d picture banani nahi aati hai to kyun banata hai? Kuch aur kar leta (If you don't know how to make a film, why do you? Do something else)".

Talking about one such email, he shared, "Then, I had an email from a psychologist in Brisbane who said the psychology of the characters really added up to him. I feel cognitive dissonance. I have made peace with two completely opposing thoughts in my mind. I don't know how it happened. But, I think forget about the movie, it's growth in me to have accepted the polarisation. I think I have grown".
Amidst getting a mixed response from movie buffs, Gehraiyaan is doing well in terms of views and is continuously trending in several countries including India. Recently, Deepika had hosted a success bash for the team. Well, the actress got trolled for throwing a success party despite the film getting mixed reactions.
