Talking about the film, in a recent interview, Shakun has revealed that he received abusive emails, criticising Gehraiyaan. In a conversation with film critic Sucharita Tyagi on her YouTube channel, he said, "I had an e-mail where the subject was B****d (a Hindi cuss word). Later, the filmmakers added that he had also received appreciation for the film. Talking about one such email, he shared, "Then, I had an email from a psychologist in Brisbane who said the psychology of the characters really added up to him. I feel cognitive dissonance. I think I have grown".

Amidst getting a mixed response from movie buffs, Gehraiyaan is doing well in terms of views and is continuously trending in several countries including India. Recently, Deepika had hosted a success bash for the team. Well, the actress got trolled for throwing a success party despite the film getting mixed reactions.
