The situation in Ukraine is grim, it’s the 14th day into war as Russia continues to invade Ukraine. People are scrambling to get out of the country and those who aren’t, are picking up arms to support their country and fight for their homeland.  

At this time, sitting here, not much is in our hands. However, what is, is evacuating students and people who are stuck in Ukraine. And while ideally, the focus is on evacuating Indians, in times of crisis like this, nationality doesn’t matter, for the Indian embassy helped evacuate Pakistanis stuck in Ukraine, just the same.

Reminding us of Tiger Zinda Hai, where both Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif work together to rescue not just Indians but also Pakistani, a video of a Pakistani student Asma Shafique has gone viral, where she thanks the Indian embassy in Kyiv, to help her escape to the western part of Ukraine, from where she can further leave the country, to be finally reunited with her family.

The ANI video shows her dressed in a hijab, thanking the embassy and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for their efforts and mentions how none of this would have been made possible, had it not been for the Indian embassy.  

It is heartening to see that at times like these, when tragedy and terror are striking left, right and Center, our country is not backing down in offering support in ways that it can. 

The thing that breaks my heart is how thankless and rude was our students' behavior towards our own government. I don't know why they were expecting a 5-star treatment in such vulnerable conditions where people where struggling to save their lives. This is saddening.

However, at the same time, several people are hailing the girl’s video as an example to show to the Indian students, who according to them, were far less grateful for being rescued and evacuated.
