Finally, Pakistan managed to save the second Test match against the touring Australian side at the National Stadium, Karachi.
Thanks to brilliant performances by Babar Azam (196), Abdullah Shafique (96) and an unbeaten Mohammad Rizwan (104*).
However, during the final overs when Mohammad Rizwan was batting on 91 with tail-ender Nauman Ali on the other end, Australian cricketer Usman Khawaja dropped a regulation catch from Rizwan.
This catch, if taken, could have proven to be the decisive moment in the contest and Australia would have defeated Pakistan and taken a 1 – 0 lead in the 3-match series.View this post on Instagram
The missed opportunity cost Australia Mohammad Rizwan’s wicket who completed his hundred and stayed unbeaten on 104 off 177 balls after umpires called stumps on the final day as Pakistan escaped with a draw.
The relieved Pakistani fans then took to Twitter and made fun of Khawaja for the dropped catch. One of the users called him ‘One of our own,’ pointing towards the Pakistani origin of the Australian cricketer.

Though most Pakistani fans were happy with the draw, some questioned Babar’s intent and attitude in the match.
They felt that the way Babar played on the final day, showed that his focus was on completing his double hundred and wanted to somehow save the match whereas, the team could have gone for a victory if he had paced his innings a bit faster.
Rizwan did try to go for the kill with aggressive intent. However, it was too late by then.
Questions have also been raised on the timid approach with which PCB has been getting the pitch prepared. Australian players too are not happy with the quality of the pitches in Pakistan.View this post on Instagram
The fans were also a bit heart-broken with the fact that Babar missed his double ton by just 4 runs. Shafique too was unfortunate and missed his hundred by 4 runs.
Pakistan finally managed to draw the match with an impressive 4th innings score of 447/7. The final match in Lauore will decide which team takes away the valuable points for the ongoing World Test Championship.
