‘Glad You Weren’t Retained’ RCB Fans Fume At ‘Ungrateful’ Sundar For Showing True Colours

All the franchises have gone through several changes ahead of IPL 2022. The eight existing teams were only allowed to retain a maximum of four players which made it difficult for them to get hold of all their star players.

Given the auction dynamics, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) also had to part with talented players like Devdutt Padikkal, KS Bharat, Yuzvendra Chahal, Washington Sundar, among others.

Sundar, who missed the second half of the season last year due to a finger injury, was bought by SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH), for a whopping Rs 8.75 crore at the IPL 2022 mega auction last month.

For the last few seasons, the Chennai all-rounder was at the RCB where he shared the dressing room with the likes of Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Glenn Maxwell.

One would imagine that settling into a new franchise would take some time for any player. Seems like Sundar has made this transition pretty smoothly and is not missing his old franchise even one bit.

His response to whether he missed the RCB or found SRH better has angered the loyal supporters of the Bengaluru-based outfit.

Sundar’s cheeky reply came when his new teammate T Natarajan asked him “So do you miss RCB, or is this better?”

“This is very good,” the all-rounder replied which made many RCB supporters furious. Some were so pissed that they thanked the RCB management for not retaining an ‘unloyal’ player like him.

Play well otherwise you will also face the David Warner fate.

And washi we don't miss you anymore @Sundarwashi5 a team like rcb backed you all these years and you showed the way how to respect them absolute shame on you

Just like that, he is not even in the consideration for rcbians, not a loss to us. His statement shows how much intent he had in contributing to the team, to win the trophy.

There are many benefits of social media but the negativity like this is its biggest drawback. The RCB fans must realise that IPL, at the end of the day, is a business where emotions can’t dictate every decision you make.

Before criticising Sundar for his light-hearted response, the RCB supporters must not forget that it was their franchise that parted ways with the all-rounder. The franchise didn’t raise its paddle even once at the auction for the 22-year-old.

How can you expect him to sing laurels for the management which discarded him completely? It’s natural that he is trying to establish a connection with the SRH supporters before making his debut for them.
