Remember The 2-YO Starving Child From Nigeria? This Is How He Looks After His Rescue andamp Recovery

Remember the malnourished child from Nigeria whose heartbreaking picture flashed all over the internet, as a volunteer held a bottle to his mouth? The child was found starving in the streets of Nigeria, after his parents abandoned him and left him to die, suspecting him to be a ‘witch’ child.

The volunteer who rescued him was Anja Ringgren Lovén, who works for a Danish volunteer organization called DINNødhjælp (‘your relief’). Malnourished and with worms in his stomach, he was on the verge of dying.

After being treated for worms in his stomach, he was taken care of in the orphanage Anja runs with the help of her team. In 8 months, Hope (the name he was given) was a changed child. On the way to recovery, he gained weight and health.

One year later, he is ready to go to school and Anja recreated the old picture to show the huge difference.

Working tirelessly to rescue and rehabilitate abandoned children in Africa, she runs African Children's Aid Education and Development Foundation.

“I became a mother myself 20 months ago and I was thinking of my own son when I saw the boy. For me it was clear at that moment that I would fight with all my strength for him to survive,” Anja had said.

Thank god for those selfless people who work tirelessly to help others. If everybody was even half as kind as them, this world be so much happier.
