Guy Turns An Old Boeing 727 Into The Coolest House Ever & Now We Want To Buy A Plane Too

When we think of airplanes, we think of the long and tiring journey in a tiny cramped place with not enough space for our legs. Oh, and the evil, crying babies, obviously.

But it is kind of comforting to know there are some people who think in a different way and see a plane and think, 'oh, this is where I wanna live'.

And, here we have Bruce Campbell who has been living in a plane for over 6 months. Okay, honestly that sounds pretty cool, it's like a life goal I never knew I had.

He bought his unique house for $100,000 (almost â¹65 lakh) in 1999 and then spent almost two decades transforming it himself. And, he's finally done converting this abandoned Boeing 727 into the best living space, somewhere in the woods outside Portland, Oregon.

Along with the 1,066 square-feet of interior space, the place is completely equipped with water, electricity, and sewage. He has made sure to use every little space available and made the best out of it. So basically, a perfect home.

It shouldn't sound surprising, but Bruce belongs to Aircraft Fleet Recycling Association (AFRA). As the name suggests, the members transform planes that aren't in use anymore into homes and other creative hubs. I'm quite impressed.

This house is the result of two decades of hard work, combined with creativity that knows no bounds, and I can honestly say, it's pretty hard to top this living condition because come on, how often do you get to know about someone who lives in a freaking plane.

While talking to Atlas Obscura, he listed out a bunch of reasons why living on a plane actually makes so much sense. Let's look at some of the reasons he gave.

- “They're incredibly strong, durable, and long-lived. And they easily withstand an earthquake or storm.”

- “Their interior is easy to keep immaculately clean because they are sealed pressure canisters, so dust and insects can't intrude from the outside.”

- “They're highly resistant to intruders.

- “Their interiors are exceptionally modern and refined, and provide a wealth of unique amenities, superb lighting and climate control, and overwhelming storage space.”

- “It's a great toy. Trick doors, trick floors. Hatches here, latches there. Cool interior lights. Awesome exterior lights, sleek gleaming appearance, titanium ducts.”

Okay, I'm convinced. BRB, need to go find old planes to buy.
