Uber Takes Away Our Only Excuse Of Bunking Office By Launching UberBoat In Mumbai

Every year, monsoon hits Mumbai really hard and so do the truckload of memes that are made on traffic and roads. If you are living in Mumbai, then your friends must have (at some point) tagged you in memes where people are booking boats on Uber and Ola. Don't know about Ola, but Uber has made those memes come true by launching UberBoat. No, it's not what you think it is!

Recently, in partnership with the Maharashtra Maritime Board, Uber launched its new speedboat service in Mumbai, which will connect Gateway of India to Elephanta Islands and Mandwa Jetty that connects Alibaug to Mumbai. Slow claps for all those who thought we were joking.

The UberBoat services were supposed to start from today i.e. February 1, but due to some technical errors Uber wrote on their official Twitter that their UberBoat pilot will not go online now.

Due to unforeseen operational issues, the Uber Boat pilot in Mumbai will not go live tomorrow. Our teams are working hard to ensure that we launch the service on our platform as soon as possible.

The boat service will reportedly cover the existing ferry routes around the sea routes of Mumbai. The rides will be available in two variants - UberBOAT and BOAT XL. The first one will be a 6-8 seater speed boat that can be availed at Rs 5,700 and the second one will be a 10-seater boat priced at Rs 9,500.

While the UberBoat is expected to make waterway commute convenient and more efficient for Mumbaikars, people on Twitter have multiple and hilarious thoughts about it.
