Apart From ABD & Virat Kohli Other RCB Batsmen Also Need To Stand Up For The Team

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), a team which contains one of the best players in the world, but still couldn't win anything till now.

Since the first edition of the Indian Premier League, RCB has been known for more of a one-man show and not a team effort, be it the squad of Anil Kumble, Daniel Vettori or now of Virat Kohli, there have always been one or two players who have played well while the rest of the team has struggled to find their form.

With the trio of Ab De Villiers, Chris Gayle and Kohli coming together, many thought that this would surely bring them the trophy. But despite reaching the final twice in the presence of these icons, RCB could never manage to get their hands on the cup.

In the last season also, around 60 per cent runs were scored by Kohli and  De Villiers, who despite scoring well for their team, couldn't get them past the finishing line.

The same old story was repeated in yesterday's game where the men in red lost to the 'MI Paltans' only because no one else stood up for the team other than Kolhi and ABD.

After Moeen Ali and Parthiv Patel failed to provide a stable start, Kohli came to the rescue of the team and scored a crucial 46 before getting caught on a well directed short ball by Jasprit Bumrah. Once he left, De Villiers took the charge, but the constant pressure of not getting out stopped him from playing his shots. Though he did manage to play the anchor innings of 67, he never got the support from the other end to wrap the game in their corner.

The only solution we can think of from this discussion, is that if RCB wants to get anywhere near the cup, then everyone in the team needs to start taking responsibility of their actions rather than putting the pressure on the main two to three players.
