A Kolkata Autowala Has A Garden Atop His Auto & We Feel He Should Be The Next Environment Min

The Green Revolution, so to speak, has reached the most vernacular level in the country and that's a mighty good sign. How do we say that with so much conviction? Meet Bijay Pal, an auto driver from Kolkata, who is growing a garden atop his auto!

The garden looks quite complete with grass and saplings growing on top and along with that, his auto gives a sweet message in Bangla, that says 'save trees, save lives', and that's the sweetest thing we've seen all day.

Upset with the mindless cutting of trees, the man wants to work towards environmental conservation in his own way and there can't be anything better than starting a green initiative on your own. Apart from that, his auto also serves as a fantastic tourist attraction across the city!

"For 3-4 years I'd been trying to figure out how to grow plants in my auto. I asked everyone but no one gave me a satisfactory answer. Then found one plant-seller and I asked him to plant some grass on my auto's rooftop. Since then people are very happy (by looking at it) and I too feel very pleased", said Bijay Pal in an interview with a popular publication.

Although the tough part is maintaining the garden as the money he earns through auto-rides goes into the upkeep of the garden, he does take care of it well and spends time watering his plants every evening. The garden looks fresh and very lively, just like a tiny little meadow!

Bijay has also taken this step to have greenery atop to cool the interiors of his auto! That's quite a genius idea and with Kolkata's over-the-top humidity levels, God knows you need it!

Everyone is trying to take a step in the right direction after the blaring levels of pollution killing our flora and fauna, and this is the smallest yet most impactful contribution from someone who knows and understands how much the environment is getting affected negatively because of us.

For now, we're glad this good Samaritan is doing great deeds to save the environment in his own precious way. Maybe it's time we learn a thing or two from him?
