Freak Fire During Shooting Practice Kills Two Army Soldiers While Severely Injuring Nine Others

We only get to realise how uncertain life really is when we come across incidents like these. While our thoughts go out to the family members of the army soldiers who lost their lives in the bizarre fire in Mhow, we can't help but ponder the odds of something like this happening.

On Thursday, a team of snipers of the Indian Army were target-practicing in Mhow, a cantonment in the Indore district in Madhya Pradesh. Like any other regular day practice, the soldiers were wearing their gille suits, an outfit made up of dry leaves and grass to help the shooters camouflage with the surroundings.

Suddenly, a wildfire wrapped the shooters around out of nowhere taking away the lives of two while severely injuring nine others.

“Two Indian Army soldiers were killed in a fire incident at the Bercha firing range in Mhow near indore. The fire was caused due to spark during firing practice,” ANI reports Army officials saying.

According to Additional SP Mhow Dharmraj Meena, Ranjit Sumer, 27, Jhunjhunu resident in Rajasthan and Akshya Ramsingh, 25, a resident of Kangra in Himachal Pradesh, were the two soldiers who died dousing the flames.

Meena also mentioned that some of the injured soldiers were also airlifted to the nearest hospital for emergency treatment. However, three out of the remaining nine have been deemed to be in critical condition and have been moved to Delhi for better care.

Joining the family in the mourning of their loved ones, people showed their respect for the soldiers:

Tragic. RIP braves @adgpi. Condolences to family & friends.
