An Influencer Faked Her Entire Trip To Coachella & Proved How Easy It's To Fake On Social Media

“Show us pictures or it didn't happen!” We're pretty sure this is something we all have said to our friends at some point or the other. Like, seriously. You went to Coachella and if you didn't upload at least 100 stories and pictures on your Instagram, then did you really even go?

But hey, pictures can be deceiving sometimes, and influencers like Gabbie Hanna are here to prove it time and again. She decided to do a little experiment and faked a weekend at Coachella using, well, Photoshop. She also used footage from friends who actually did go to the festival.

Better yet, she also made a YouTube video explaining why she pulled off this stunt. She was apparently inspired by other YouTubers who have faked their trips before. But one of the main reasons why she did this in the first place was to prove just how easy it is to lie on social media.

As you can see in the video, she hired a photographer to click pretty pictures of her. Instead of spending time at Coachella, she booked an Airbnb and spent her weekend there taking pictures. You can check out all her pictures on her Instagram, the captions of which have now been changed to say, “Oops, I faked it!”

Hanna goes on to talk about how social media, for most people, has become a platform to post highly curated and manipulated pictures of them having fun. She warns her followers to be careful about what you see online and not get caught up in the hype.
