Sony has been the leader in gaming console sales ever since it launched the PlayStation 4, however, a new report by an analyst suggests that Sony is already working on a new console that might launch next year. The same report also detailed that the Microsoft Scorpio will launch by the second half of this year with better specs than the Xbox One.

The report comes from analyst Damian Thong, who accurately predicted the launch of the PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro. In his report, he did not detail on any of the specs or any other information on the PS5. One must take into account that even though his predictions have been correct in the past, this is just pure speculation at the moment.

It is highly unlikely that Sony will announce anything about the PS5 at E3 this year. Considering that Nintendo’s Switch (which never launched in India) has been surpassing sales expectations and with the knowledge that Microsoft has been working on the Scorpio, it wouldn’t be too far-fetched to assume that Sony will launch the PS5 sooner than anticipated.

Microsoft is expected to unveil Project Scorpio at E3 2017 while all eyes will be set on Sony if they will follow suit with a surprise of their own. Since the launch of PS4 in late 2013, Sony has sold over 60 million units across the globe and it seems very likely that Sony will take full advantage of this cash cow while they can.
