After Toni Kroos' sensational corner-kick goal thronged social media, the Spanish Super Cup once again became the talk of the town following Atletico Madrid's 3-2 win over Barcelona on 10th January. After Koke opened the scoring for Atletico, Lionel Messi brought Barcelona on level terms with a goal in the 51st minute.

Eleven minutes later, Antoine Griezmann's cool finish saw Barcelona taking a 2-1 lead which initially seemed good enough to edge past their counterparts. But, contrary to popular perception, Atletico made a spirited comeback through a successful penalty kick from Alvaro Morata before Angel Correa scored the winner in the 86th minute.

While a brilliant comeback from Diego Simeone's men captured the imagination of their fans, it was the heated exchange between Messi and Joao Felix that became a topic of great debate on social media. The Portuguese wonderkid, who was snapped up from Benfica last summer, squared up with Barcelona captain Messi before half-time with the 0-0 deadlock.

The two La Liga stars were seen exchanging a few words before Barcelona defender Gerard Pique rushed in to separate the pair. And, only moments later, other Barcelona players swamped Felix as tensions continued to soar on the pitch. Former Liverpool star Luis Suarez also got involved in what appeared to be another heated spat before other players from both the sides stepped in to calm things down.

Felix had also lost his temper earlier in the match when Jordi Alba touched his face, prompting the Atleti youngster to slap the Barca left-back's finger away. While we will never get to know what led to the heated exchange between Felix and Messi, it didn't stop football fans from using it as an opportunity to create hilarious memes.
