5 'Sad' Movies Which Eventually End With A 'Happy Ending'

Not all movies that are deep in nature need to end on a sad note. Catharsis is sure a brilliant literary device which many movies use brilliantly as they make the audience cry and feel bad for the protagonist, but some sad movies do have a happy ending. Here are 5 movies which have a sob story but do end on a happy note.

1. Room

A heartbreaking, life-affirming movie which follows the story of a mother and her young kid who, after years of confinement in a small room, manage to taste freedom. The movie makes you feel claustrophobic, sad and just uneasy at the same time but the ending gives you hope.

2. Masoom

If this movie has not given you âthem feelsâ and made you drop a tear or two, then I donât know what else can or will. A small boy looking for his father and wanting to be accepted in a family he loves is what this movie is about. The movie will make you question how life can sometimes be cruel but the ending reminds you that eventually good things happen to good people.

3. Shawshank Redemption

It is one of the best movies of all time and once you watch it, you will understand why. The story is based on a banker who is sentenced to life imprisonmetnt after being accused of murdering his wife and her lover. The ending with Red and Andy being together explains that when we think life has nothing to offer, it often surprises us with something much bigger.

4. Kabir Singh

One of the most controversial movies of 2019 but also a sad one if one may call it. A bright doctor takes the help of alcoholism as a coping mechanism for his lost love. While the character is problematic in parts, one does feel sorry for his sad and traumatic state. When the two unite in the end, one does feel happy for them. True love does exist.

5. Tamasha

Trust Imtiaz Ali to express emotions and show anyoneâs sentiments like no one else can make that happen. Two people trying to make a relationship work with different views in life. You feel sad for Ved but also relate to him on an intimate level. Eventually, when the two unite as his struggle to find his âtrue selfâ ends on a happy note, all is well in the end.
