Robert Pattinson, the Twilight star who is soon going to be the new Batman, has, recently, been declared as the most handsome man in the world, courtesy to a scientific study. Researchers concluded this after using an ancient Greek calculation method called the 'Golden Ratio of Beauty Phi', which has historically been used to measure the physical perfection of humans.

It has been found out through this study that when Pattinson's eyebrows, eyes, jaw, nose, lips, and every other facial shape were measured against the features of other male celebrities, he came the closest to the Greek idea of 'perfection.

This method was used by painters in the European Renaissance, it was at the time, used by architects and artists like Leonardo Da Vinci (who drew the ' Vitruvian Man' using the technique) to map the 'perfect' length and width for their creations. 'The Golden Ratio of Beauty Phi' determined the idea of perfection in humans at the time as well. 

While measuring the face, the test divides the results and the closer a face's measurement is to Phi (1.618). It also relies on the symmetry and proportion of the face and is determined by factors such as whether the length of the ear is equal to the length of the nose, or if the width of the eye is equal to the distance between the eyes.

In October 2019, the same test declared Bella Hadid as the most beautiful woman in the world. For the test, scientists have developed a formula to explain what qualitative aspects that make a person beautiful. This gives a percentage of how close to 'perfection' someone's face is. Pattinson's face came in at 92.15 percent which is the highest of the lot.

One can't help but wonder if these are Pattinson's natural features or if some have been surgically altered, or can they be simply contributed to the fine grooming that he's been exposed to since a young teen. 

While features can't inherently be changed by grooming, grooming, to a certain extent, does affect the way you look.

Amongst other actors in the list, Henry Cavill was second in running, followed by Bradley Cooper, Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Hugh Jackman, David Beckham, Idris Elba, Kanye West, and Ryan Gosling. This list was compiled using computerised mapping techniques by London-based cosmetic surgeon Dr Julian De Silva.

But clearly, the sample size was restrictive to popular faces like actors and not the rest of the population.
