5 Reasons Why 'Pawan & Pooja' Is On Top Of Our Binge-Watch List For Valentine's Day

Valentine's weekend is almost here and itâs time to plan the perfect date with your bae. Even though watching your favourite rom-com is a great idea, why not dial it up a few notches and opt for something that hits harder.

In this digital age of binge-watching, director Shaad Ali of Saathiya and Bunty Aur Babli fame is all set to recreate his magic with this upcoming modern-day love story Pawan & Pooja on MX Player. He has joined hands with other prominent Bollywood directors like Siddharth P Malhotra (We Are Family and Hichki) and Ajay Bhuyan to deliver this ambitious new take on love.

The trailer for the show dropped recently and here's why it automatically climbed to the top of our must-watch list:

1. Storyline About Complicated Love:

The romantic drama explores the lives of three couples â all coincidently named Pawan and Pooja â who at different stages of their lives discover that love is indeed conditional, breakable and questionable. While we love to watch movies that make love all roses and rainbows, the reality is different and this show brings out the struggle that comes with being in love.

2. A Huge Star Cast:

The show not only has a great storyline, but also amazing characters. The ensemble cast includes acclaimed veteran actors Mahesh Manjrekar and Deepti Naval as one of the couples. The other two are played by powerhouse performers Sharman Joshi and Gul Panag, and newcomers Taaruk Raina and Natasha Bharadwaj.

3. Bringing Technology Into The Story:

The storyline between Taaruk Raina and Natasha Bharadwaj, who play the youngest Pawan & Pooja talks about the repercussions of having a relationship in the age of social media. Their relationship is tested again and again when Pooja tries to make it in the spotlight and Pawan craves for a normal life. This resonates with most of us in todayâs time and seeing it on screen in a huge plus.

4. The Imperfect Relationship:

Exploring love across three different generations, the show is drawn from real-life experiences which makes the characters bring forward the imperfect side of relationships that we deal with in our daily lives. It will make the viewers question the âhappily-ever-afterâ love that we all persistently chase. According to director Siddharth P Malhotra, âthe show deals with the grey shades of love and life.â

5. Three Different Stages:

The unique part about the show is that it features three different phases of life. Life is different when you are in your 20s as compared to your 40s and 60s which is exactly what the makers have bought forth. The problems we face in our relationship today as millennials are different from what our parents go through or what our grandparents faced and that makes this a must-watch.

If these reasons are not enough, it is the perfect way to spend your Valentineâs day even if you donât have a date. The MX Original series goes live on the 14th of February.
