Elon Musk Took Cheeky Dig At WhatsApps Security Issues & It Must Have Hit Where It Hurts

Elon Musk is known to be very frank, honest and sometimes witty and thereâs no denying that he likes to take a few digs at rivals and competitors as well. And now, he has tweeted a dig at WhatsApp. Tesla CEO thinks that the popular messaging app WhatsApp is not great at security and prone to hacks. Musk tweeted a meme highlighting a new emoji that indicates the messaging app comes with a âfree phone hack.â

Facebook's security advisory had also explained the issue and said, "A vulnerability in WhatsApp Desktop when paired with WhatsApp for iPhone allows cross-site scripting and local file reading. Exploiting the vulnerability requires the victim to click a link preview from a specially crafted text message.â

The âfree phone hack" is probably a dig at WhatsAppâs recent lapses in security. WhatsApp was in the news recently. Earlier this week, reports claimed that a WhatsApp bug would let hackers read files on a victimâs computer. Investigators believe that Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezosâ iPhone was hacked and compromised after he received a video on WhatsApp that fetched personal data. In a similar fashion, 1,400 journalists and human rights activists' phones were also broken into by Pegasus software from Israel-based NSO Group last year.
