Someone Made A COVID-19 Quarantine Party Playlist Go Viral & The Titles Couldn't Be More Apt
Do you guys remember the 2012 doomsday âcrisisâ?
Not too long ago, doomsayers went on a pilgrimage across the internet, with ancient conspiracy theories and pseudoscience backing up their claims that the world would end in 2012. Not only was that entire, juicy Mayan calendar part of the picture, there was a literal film produced in the years leading up to 2012 - which, by the way, grossed shy of $800 million at the box office.
The message is clear - humans, at least in the age of internet memes, enjoy a good bit of chaos every now and then. Set aside the fact that Coronavirus has claimed over 125 thousand patients (and Tom Hanks!) by now - the internet has made major headway using its primary coping tactic other than heated arguments over Twitter - a barrage of jokes, memes and the kind of dark humour thatâs defined an entire generation.
One particular Spotify user by the name of Alistair Ryan took things up a notch earlier this week when his playlist began to grab attention on Twitter. The objective of the playlist? Have the best party possible through the epidemic - or die trying.

After asking whether the listener wants to âraid supermarket or notâ, the playlist kicks off guns blazing with Britney Spearsâ 2003 hit, Toxic - followed up by Futureâs chartbuster, Mask Off. The puns continue relentlessly through all 61 songs, ranging from the mildly titled Bad Disease by Alexandra Savior, to a punk track titled Senior Citizen Killing Spree.
Itâs hilarious. As I write this, Ryan seems to have just added a new song - Lana Del Reyâs Born To Die.
Thereâs classic hits like the Bee Geeâs Stayin Alive, Blink-182âs All The Small Things and even MC Hammerâs U Canât Touch This - all sandwiched between major current bangers like Travis Scottâs SICKO MODE and Jojiâs similarly capitalised hit, NO FUN.
Twitter users scrambled over each other to recommend more songs - with an epidemic on the rise. And seems like the puns literally write themselves.

The playlist is actually pretty goddamn good, and whenâs the last time a collection of songs made you laugh? Give it a listen here.
