Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh will be soon making his Tamil movie debut with a college drama. The movie, titled Friendship, is directed by debutant John Paul Raj. Itâs not the first time that a cricketer is trying his hands on acting. We have already seen cricketers like Ajay Jadeja and Vinod Kambli trying the acting game.

In Harbhajanâs case, he too is going against his wife Geeta Basra who has already given him a heads-up that acting is not everyoneâs cup of tea. In a conversation with TOI, the cricketer said, âMy wife, Geeta (Basra), told me not to get into films as itâs nothing like the sport that I play. She is right in the sense that acting is not everyoneâs cup of tea, but if nothing else, tajurba toh mil hi jayega.â

Harbhajan would be playing the role of an engineering student in his Tamil debut movie and his character would be that of a student hailing from Punjab. Well, he was asked if he is apprehensive about playing a student on screen when he is actually in his late 30s in real life. To this, Singh said, âI think I am fit enough to pass off as a college student, uncleji nahi lagunga.â

For the movie, he has shot for two days and because of the lockdown, the shoot was affected. âFor the film Friendship, I shot for two days before the lockdown, and now, âªaround 15-20⬠daysâ work is pending,â he said.

Friendship, starring Harbhajan Singh and Losliya Mariyanesan in the lead, narrates the tale of a group of friends. Well, it will be interesting to see Bhajji act but it does come with a risk of not working out as cricketers who have tried it didnât really make a mark in the glamorous industry of movies.
