TikTok Wants To Enter India Again And Says It's Ready To Store User Data Locally


Last month, the Indian government decided to ban the use of 59 Chinese origin apps including the likes of TikTok, Camscanner, and more. Out of all the apps, the ban of TikTok is probably what became the talk of the hour.

There's been a lot of banter on this topic, but it looks like TikTok wants to get back in the business in India. TikTok's parent company Bytedance is said to have been in talks with the Indian government about setting up local data centers.

Yes, it is understood that the company is ready to set up data centers in India to store user information locally so it doesn't have to leave the country. Privacy and data protection have been the primary reason behind the ban of these apps in India, and it looks like TikTok wants to change that by storing the data locally.

TikTok has denied any breach in data, but it says data centers can be set up here for more emphasis on privacy. A TikTok's spokesperson noted that they have submitted their response to the government and are working with them to provide any clarifications to allay the concerns.
