People in our country are still seeking permission and fighting for the freedom to love whoever they want to. Even though we have come a long way, this specific journey is extraordinarily long. Recently, the Delhi High Court has asked the Central government’s advice on two pleas by same-*** couples.
According to PTI, one of the couples wants to get married under the Special Marriage Act and the other couple wants to register their wedding in the USA under the Foreign Marriage Act.

Justices RS Endlaw and Asha Menon have issued a notice to the center and Delhi government to know their point of view on the pleas of same-*** couples wanting to get married. Also, the court sent a notice to the Centre and the Consulate General of India in New York for the plea of two men who got married in the USA but couldn’t register under the FMA.
These are such bizarre issues that two people who are in love shouldn’t face irrespective of being a same-*** couple or otherwise. Now, for both the cases a hearing has been scheduled for January 8, 2021.

Earlier, the Odisha High Court allowed a woman to live in with her same-*** partner. The high court also extended protection of domestic violence law to the woman partner so that she can exercise her legal rights in case the couple decides to part ways.
Homosexuality has been decriminalized in India and in the year 2018, consensual gay *** was also legalized. We hope that things become easier for the LGBTQ community and there comes a time soon when they don’t have to seek permission to marry someone they love.
