Apple has finally made its iPhone 12 seriesΒ official and we know exactly what we'll get for our money instead of eye-balling things based on the leaks and rumours. We got four new iPhones this year, two of them being the standard iPhone 12 models whereas the remaining two models come under Apple's 'Pro' line up.
The iPhone 12 Pro and the iPhone 12 Pro Max both come with a dizzying amount of camera tech. In fact, more than anything, we think the cameras are what truly make them 'Pro' variants. So we decided to take a look at the camera tech that's baked into the iPhone 12 Pro and the iPhone 12 Pro Max.
Three CamerasSo the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 12 Pro Max, both come with three cameras at the back along with a LiDAR sensor. You get a 12MP primary lens with a 7 element lens and an f/1.6 aperture. You also get a 12MP f/2.4 ultrawide camera with a 120-degree field of view, a 5-element lens, and a 13mm-equivalent focal length. Lastly, you also get a telephoto camera which is the same as the one found on the iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 11 Pro Max.

Apple is also betting big on the various photography modes that are meant to take advantage of the hardware power and give you better user experience. For instance, Apple's Deep Fusion computational photography system can now be used on either camera. Apple also noted that it runs faster on the iPhone 12.
Night Mode can also be used on the iPhone 12 regardless of the camera you're using. Additionally, Apple's Smart HDR 3 system will automatically adjust things like white balance and contrast in photos to make them look more natural. And lastly, there's the ability to shoot HDR video with Dolby Vision at 30 fps.
