The rich history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has shown us that it doesn't really matter how you start the tournament, it's more to do with how you finish it - a bitter reality Delhi Capitals (DC) are coming to terms with.

For a team that initially looked like the one to beat this season, Delhi got past one opponent after another in a rampant run to the top of the table. 

The Shreyas Iyer-led side had seven wins in their first nine games in a bid to stake their claim to the title this year. But, when things really mattered, Delhi have slumped big time.

The team hasn't won a single match in their last four outings, with their recent defeat coming against Mumbai Indians (MI). Asked to bat first, Delhi's batting lineup was cut a sorry figure with the likes of Jasprit Bumrah (3-17) and Trent Boult (3-21) restricting their opponents to a mediocre total of 110 runs. 

On a forgettable outing for Delhi batsmen, captain Iyer (25) and Rishabh Pant (21) emerged as top-scorers for their side. 

Prithvi Shaw, whose story has been akin to that of Delhi this season, was brought back into the side to aid his team but the misfortunes continued to follow the young batsman who couldn't score more than 10 runs.

In the end, it proved to be a cakewalk for Mumbai who achieved the target with nine wickets and almost five overs to spare. While it was the whole batting unit that betrayed Delhi in the crunch game, Shaw was particularly targetted by fans for his poor run this season.
