Farmers Getting Blasted With Water & Tear Gas While Protesting Is The Most Heartbreaking Thing

Everybody has a constitutional right to protest, right? Well, then it's really ironic how the farmers who are protesting are getting treated in the most inhuman way that, too on Constitution Day.

As part of the Dilli Chalo protest, farmers had been marching towards Delhi to peacefully fight against the Centre's farm laws that would curb their income,ย  leaving them at the "mercy" of big corporates.

In retaliation to the protest, Haryana police have barricaded the borders and blasted the farmers with water cannons, when it's one of the coldest winters, and used tear gas on them as well.

The pictures and videos from the borders where the protest is being prevented from moving any further look way too dystopian and people are angry and heartbroken at the treatment of farmers.

Happy Constitution Day 2020.

So much manpower to disperse a peaceful protest where people whose livelihood is at stake just want to be heard and ask for answers, this is what the country has come to now.

The farmers' resilience is something to be commended but the entire situation is so screwed up.

Not only any Government but millions of lives are dependent on #Farmers. We eat because farmer produces but today the power in regime wants to suppress their voices. #FarmersDilliChalo march amidst Pandemic should be a prior concern for Modi government. #FarmersProtest pic.twitter.com/yAxqJ8rAAR

These farmers are more essential for this country than literally any other person.

India can never forgive the govt who treats those who feed this nation like terrorists.#FarmersProtest pic.twitter.com/uMObiNtYgh

Of course, the pandemic is a cause for concern, but why the selective retaliation?

So massive election rallies are okay. But farmers and mazdoors aren't allowed to protest against bills that determine their future. When they gather, they're met with inhuman cold water cannons in winters & times of corona. Such a shame!#FarmersProtest pic.twitter.com/0A53zQXhR8

They have a right to be heard.

We stand in solidarity with our annadatas who are marching to Delhi to protest peacefully against the draconian farm laws.

The BJP govt. cannot suppress the voice of farmers with their cruelty and brute force. #FarmersDilliChalo #FarmersProtest pic.twitter.com/GLUQvCwTBh

The coolest person ever.

This young protestor jumped on to the the water cannon, turned the tap off and jumped right back on to his trolley, during yesterday's protest at Punjab-Haryana border. #BharatBand #bharatbandh pic.twitter.com/doXYQ5cWTC

No more selective protection.

This is how they treat #FarmersProtest
They have all the security resources when it comes to curbing people's voice but no such thing when it's about security from rapes and mob lynching, riots... #BharatBandh pic.twitter.com/3RgwsCRQMl
