Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli made another batting record and has become the fastest to reach the 12,000 run mark in one-day International cricket.

Kohli achieved this milestone when his score was 23 against Australia in Canberra in the third ODI. Also, he accomplished this record in only 242 innings while Sachin Tendulkar reached here in 300 innings. Virat Kohli is the second Indian cricketer to score 12,000 runs in ODI cricket.

Sachin Tendulkar has held the record for being the fastest to make the 12,000 run mark for seventeen long years.

Kohli made this happen when he reached the mark in the first ball of the 12th over and took a single off pacer Sean Abbott. He added 40 more to his score after that and finished with 63 and was caught behind by Alex Carey off Josh Hazelwood.

Kohli has scored 43 centuries in ODI cricket and averages under 60 in the format.

ICC’s official Twitter handle posted saying, “1200 ODI runs for Virat Kohli. He has become the fastest batsman to reach the milestone, in just 242 innings. #AUSvIND “
