Umpire Gerard Abood Sparks A Laugh Riot After 'Head-Butting' The Spider-Cam In 3rd T20I

Despite being an inconsequential game in the three-match series, the third and final Twenty20 International (T20I) between India and Australia had its own share of exciting moments.Β

If the contest between two of the biggest powerhouses in international cricket served the promise of a pulsating contest, the turn of events at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) further made it exciting.

Whether it was India's controversial DRS call, the comical lapses in the field or the sight of Virat Kohli's doppelgangerΒ in the stands, the so-called 'dead rubber', despite having any say on the series result, thoroughly entertained cricket fans.Β

One such moment came during Australia's innings which left everyone in splits.

Eager to post a competitive total on the scoreboard, Australian batsmen were going about their business, looking to accelerate the scoring rate when on-field umpire Gerard Abood became the butt of all jokes on social media.Β

The Australian umpire was walking back to his usual position at the non-striker's end when he accidentally bumped into the 'Spider-Cam' which was quite low.

A small video of the hilarious episode was shared by Cricket Australia (CA) on Twitter where the board joked: "So that's why Gerard Abood wears the helmet!".

As soon as the hilarious video surfaced online, cricket fans took turns to troll the poor umpire with their funny reactions.

And that’s what happens when you take it off. Never take a chance!

On the cricketing front, an impressive innings from Matthew Wade (80), who was adequately supported by Glenn Maxwell (54), powered Australia to a competitive total of 186 runs.Β

In reply, despite a valiant knock from captain Virat Kohli (85), India could only manage to finish at 174/7 in 20 overs, losing the contest by 12 runs.
