Oppo Has Showcased A New Concept Phone Design & It Reminds Us Of The Infamous iPhone Meme

Concept phones are a great way to showcase what a particular company is cooking behind the scenes and what we can expect from them in the future. It's totally understandable getting excited about concept phones, but it goes without saying that you may never see that concept phone in reality.

But we love checking out some cool concept phones because it at least tells us that the manufacturers are still putting in some effort to bring new innovations. And that's exactly why we're so pumped to see the new concept design from Oppo.

Oppo has showcased a new concept device called the "slide-phone". It's working with a Japanese design studio nendo to put out this wild triple-hinge design concept. Here, take a look -

Today, we’re showcasing two new design concepts produced in collaboration with leading Japanese design studio, nendo.

As you can see, this concept phone has three hinges that allow it to get a triple fold. The phone essentially transforms into a small pocketable device that's very easy to carry. Sliding up one fold reveals 40mm of the screen and the second fold will reveal an 80mm screen.

It eventually opens up to become this phone with a tall form factor that somewhat reminds us of the infamous iPhone meme from the past. This one -

It's just a random meme generated by the users back when iPhone X had come out. It was basically to mock Apple to show how their phones are getting bigger and we'll eventually reach this tall device in a few years.

As is the case with most concept phones, there's no release date, timelines, or any commitments. Heck, we don't even know if there's a working prototype yet but it's an innovative step that we're super excited about. If not this, we'll at least be getting something very close to the concept as a finished product.
