Vikrant Massey Apologises For His ‘Dainty Princess’ Tweet & It’s Not The Apology You’re Thinking

The least someone can do is apologize after rightfully getting called out, but actually owning up to your mistake is something not everyone knows how to do.

And, the biggest disappointment is that someone as unproblematic as Vikrant Massey is disappointing us right now.

A few hours ago, the Mirzapur actor decided to call out the government for cancelling the winter session because of the pandemic when previously that did not matter.

He had the right sentiment, he obviously has the right to question authorities, but when he ended his tweet with 'Dainty little princesses', people were upset, and rightfully so.

We can have massive election rallies, a brief Monsoon session during the peak, but no Winter session...Why? Cos we’re in the middle of a pandemic.

Dainty little princesses!!!

The fact he used the term 'princess' in a demeaning way is obviously not okay and while it may not be the end of the world, it's still something he can correct in the future.

After some constructive criticism, he tweeted his not-so-sincere apology, doubling down on his initial point.

To all the wonderful souls out there who found my previous tweet “misogynistic” I SINCERELY APOLOGISE as it was never the intention.

Meanwhile thank you for restoring my faith that Twitter is a shit-hole & misinterpreting something, said by someone you don’t even know. 🏽

No, the response he got was basically people politely telling him that his tweet sounded sexist.

Yes Twitter can be a vile place, but as far as I could see, his replies weren't overtly negative.

Haan, ho gaya, we just expect better from you.

Didi, ho gaya ab! 🏽

— Vikrant Massey (@masseysahib) December 17, 2020 Okay, then.

🤣

— Vikrant Massey (@masseysahib) December 17, 2020 It's because of this kind of mindset that sometimes you need to be aware of what you're putting out in the world.

Feminism is uncured Cancer & is spreading like Corona Virus. Period!

— Nihal Khaan (@NihalSayss) December 17, 2020 Very well put.

Vikrant, you don't have to be defensive in response to fair criticism. You didn't need to throw a sexist shade in the original tweet and that's what people pointed out. Introspecting and acknowledging one's mistakes never harms anyone. https://t.co/UczPr3tpTS

— Priyanka Sharma (@iPriyanka_S) December 17, 2020 Exactly.

Try not to use the female gender as weak to compare with from the next time maybe... https://t.co/WJKifqc9VB

— Dory (@dreamin_dory) December 17, 2020 That's the entire point.

Agree with the sentiment but the language is sexist. Please refrain from that princesses are dainty https://t.co/PUNW4YkGpr

— Namita (@iNamitaPrakash) December 17, 2020 Casual sexism should not be ignored.

Peak of casual sexism also noted. https://t.co/nZ4Xp3Ie4a

— Adrija Chatterjee (@adrijac) December 17, 2020 Yes, only if it wasn't for those last three words.

Young and talented actors showing spine https://t.co/fSjcBahANr

— Vinod Kapri (@vinodkapri) December 17, 2020 Yes, seriously.

Misogyny??? Cos I called them dainty princesses? Like seriously? I guess we can calm a bit down generally and get the gist of what I’m saying.

— Vikrant Massey (@masseysahib) December 17, 2020 The replies are way too civil for Twitter and he still got offended.

Massey Saab just won my day. Also, they are dainty little prince and princesses. Here, fixed it.
