Fortune Pulls Out Cooking Oil Ads Featuring Sourav Ganguly Days After He Suffers Heart Attack

All advertisements of Fortune Rice Bran cooking oil featuring the current BCCI president Sourav Ganguly have reportedly been pulled down by Adani Wilmar, merely days after the former captain of the Indian cricket team suffered a ‘mild heart attack’.

The cooking oil, that had Ganguly promote it, talked about how the product was ‘healthy for the heart’ and the irony was enough for the Indian social media users to bombard the brand with trolls and memes.

With a tagline that said: 'A heart healthy oil that gives you the power of immunity', the brand was criticised online for not living up to it’s words after the cricketer suffered a heart attack last week.

According to reports, Ganguly was in the gym when he complained of uneasiness. He was later taken to the Woodland Hospital in his hometown of Kolkata further tests and it was revealed that he had indeed suffered a mild heart attack.

“The advertising featuring Ganguly has been removed across platforms,” one of the persons who is closely working on the campaign, was quoted as saying by the Economic Times. “Ogilvy & Mather, creative agency for the brand, is looking into the issue and is working on a fresh redressal campaign," he added.

Ganguly had undergone angioplasty on Saturday and will continue to remain under strict observation of the team of doctors who are treating him. The BCCI president is likely to be discharged on Wednesday and doctors will continue to observe him at his home. His further treatment plan will also be discussed with Ganguly in the coming weeks.
