Shoaib Akhtar Slams Pakistan For Playing 'School Level Cricket' Against New Zealand

With the resumption of cricket a few months ago, while every team has been busy trying to make the most of the lost time with crucial wins, Pakistan found itself witnessing a nightmare during their recently-concluded tour of New Zealand.

Even before a single ball was bowled, the Pakistani cricket team had drawn flak after being reprimanded for breaching quarantine protocols.Β

If their irresponsible behaviour left the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) red-faced, the team's poor performance during the 2-1 loss in the three-match T20I series further added to their woes.

After their loss in T20Is, Pakistan's misery continued in the two-match Test series where they were completely overshadowed by a rampant New Zealand brigade that romped to a 2-0 win.Β

A 101-run loss in the first Test was followed by a defeat of the magnitude of an innings and 176 runs at Christchurch, that left Pakistani fans up in arms on social media.

Amid all the flak, some criticism also came from Pakistani bowling legend Shoaib Akhtar who also slammed the PCB for bringing in "average" players into the team, leading to them playing "school level cricket".Β Β

In an explosive video shared on Twitter, Akhtar minced no words while analysing Pakistan's mediocre performance against New Zealand.Β

"The policies of the Pakistan Cricket Board is seeing them get what they had sowed. They keep bringing and playing average players, and they keep making an average team and will continue to do average work and because of this, average results will keep coming," Akhtar said in the video.Β

"Whenever Pakistan will play Test cricket, they will be exposed. They are playing school-level cricket and the management has made them school-level cricketers. And now they are again thinking to change the management but when will you change?" he added.Β

Apart from Akhtar, the likes of Mohammad Amir and Inzamam-ul-Haq also slammed PCB recently.Β Β

While Amir blamed the "yes boss culture" in the national team for his early retirement from international cricket, Inzy had slammed Pakistan bowling coach Waqar Younis for his comments over Babar Azam's injury.
