People in India despise censorship of shows and movies, until it comes to something they feel personally offended by and then they are all for proper action against the people responsible.
The topic of censorship is always highly debated and sure, all the content should be regulated to some extent but only a small group of people controlling everything sounds a little iffy.
When it comes to censorship of content on OTT platforms in India, people have very strong and distinct opinions.
There have been so many controversies, so many boycotts for shows streaming online, the term boycott has almost lost all its meaning at this point.

There's only one source of content left that is not completely regulated and the makers can actually present the shows and movies they want as they intended.
A few months ago, it was announced that all digital content will come under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. However, today, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar was quoted as saying that all the OTT content doesn't come under censor board.
We've received a lot of complaints against some serials available on OTT platforms. But, he added that guidelines for that would be laid out soon.
Guidelines will be announced regarding their functioning soon: Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Prakash Javadekar

So, one can assume that after the guidelines are out, the shows and movies on digital platforms would be expected to follow that, but they won't be under as much scrutiny as say Bollywood movies.
It's all a little unclear as of now and maybe we will get some clarity once these guidelines are announced.
But for now, the first thing people thought of after seeing this new development was the porn ban.
Adult content is, of course, banned in India so people are now asking why is porn banned when the content on OTT platforms, which they deem pretty close to porn, is allowed to air uncensored.
So porn is ban, but porn can be shown on OTT platforms. Kya logic hai bhai

— Priyesh Shah IRS (@IrsPriyesh) January 31, 2021 Uhh.India: You cannot watch porn.
Also India: We don't have any regulations for digital media and OTT platforms.
OTT platforms: They now literally make porn which is hilariously enough recommended by YouTube Ads.

— गणतन्त्र-atty TractoRatty (@YearOfRat) January 31, 2021 They aren't the same, though. But banning porn does? Aren't OTT and porn sites using the same means to disperse content? https://t.co/Oz1AJp5IGW
