BJP Minister's Definition Of 'Who Is A Hindu' Makes People Ask 'What Does That Even Mean?'

Senior Assam minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has got people talking on Twitter for a particularly controversial reason.

On Thursday, one of his statements garnered immense response on the micro-blogging site, as the minister gave an all-new definition of who a Hindu is supposed to be.

“If you stand with Bharat in a clash between Bharat and Gita, then you are a Hindu,” Sarma was quoted as saying.

If you stand with Bharat in a clash between Bharat and Gita, then you are a Hindu: Himanta Biswa Sarma

This didn't go down well with most people on social media.

Well, here’s how people on the micro-blogging site reacted to the minister’s “eye-opening” remark:

Dharma will be above everything

Another stupid statement from BJP minister. Hindus will/should stand for Geeta first. One sided secularism by hindus is poisonous

— Suzuki-gun gorilla 卐 (@zurakoutaro) February 17, 2021

This is not one sided secularism.
Nation is and should be above everything. For most of the Muslims, the case is opp.

There can never be clash between Gita and Bharat.....both are the result of same ideology or hypothesis.....

There may be clash between Bharat and India and we will stand with Bharat only.

As you all already know, this isn’t the first time where ministers blatantly make such statements.

On Wednesday, the minister said that he communicated to state BJP chief Ranjeet Kumar Dass a year ago that he did not wish to contest the 2021 assembly election. He, however, said that if the party decides to field him to contest the poll likely to be held in March-April, he will honour the decision.

The BJP leader did not disclose the reason for his unwillingness to fight the election.

"On my birthday on February 1, 2020, I gave a letter to Ranjeet Dass saying that I don't want to fight the 2021 assembly polls. This is not known to my wife or son or any family member till now. I am making it public for the first time," Sarma said according to the reports.
