‘IPL Improves Skills’, Jos Buttler’s Remark Makes India Fans Troll ‘Fit’ Dale Steyn Once Again

The 14th edition of the Indian Premier League is scheduled to kick-off in April with some of the biggest names of international cricket from all over the world flying over to India for a month and a half of fast-paced, actioned-packed cricketing experience and also some very large sums of cash.

England wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler will be one of them, who is currently the gloveman for the inaugural champions, Rajasthan Royals, and will get a Rs. 4.5 crore-cheque to play for the franchise during the upcoming season of the league.

For Buttler however, the IPL is a lot more than the money, it has also allowed him to get better as an overseas player.

“IPL is a huge draw for players. It is hugely beneficial not only to individuals but also to the England cricket side. A big feather in the cap that 12 players were in demand this year to play in the world’s biggest tournament,” Buttler said in a press conference on Tuesday as reported by ANI.

“And of course the obvious benefits are players improvement, you learn skills, experiences you gain especially at the moment this IPL we play in India where the World T20 will be played,” he added.

“You know the benefits of IPL, it’s a huge tournament, the monetary rewards are obvious and experience you gain. And it’s quite obvious looking at the results of England’s white-ball game and the number of players participating in the IPL. The tournament is beneficial for all of us,” the Englishman concluded.

Buttler’s thoughts towards the Indian Premier League came a week after former South African legend Dale Steyn spoke about how the Pakistan Super League was “more rewarding” than its Indian counterpart.

IPL is less rewarding as compared to PSL and other leagues. cricket gets forgotten, amid money talks, in the IPL which is why i decided against playing the last season. “I think when you go to the IPL, there are such big squads and so many big names and so much emphasis on maybe the amount of money players earn and everything like that, so sometimes, somewhere down the line, cricket gets forgotten,” Steyn had said in an interview with The Express Tribune.

“When you come to (a tournament) like PSL or Sri Lankan Premier League, there really is importance on the cricket. I have only been here for a couple of days and I have had people in and out of my room just wanting to know about where I have played and how I went about it,” added the Protea.

The former Protea wrote an apologetic tweet after receiving flak on social media for his controversial comments but the damage was already done and Indian fans were not going to forget it so quickly.

IPL has been nothing short of amazing in my career, as well as other players too.

My words were never intended to be degrading, insulting, or comparing of any leagues.
Social media and words out of context can often do that.

My apologies if this has upset anyone.
Much love

So when Buttler supported the IPL’s effectiveness in preparing international players for diverse pitches, IPL fans started tagging Steyn and trolling him.

Daly steyn will not agree with him
