‘Kohli & Dhoni Are Disgraces’, Matt Parkinson’s Insults For Our Players Resurface Before ODI

Ahead of the first of three One-Day International matches between India and England at Pune’s Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, English spinner Matt Parkinson has made it to India’s Twitter trends for something naughty he did in the past.

With the experience of two ODIs and two T20Is under his belt, the 24-year-old cricketer is found to be under fire by dedicated fans of the Indian cricket team after several of his ‘insulting’ tweets directed towards some of the biggest names of the game in the country resurfaced online.

Just a day ahead of the first 50-over match, Parkinson’s social media posts from between 2012 and 2014 were retraced by some of the followers of the Men in Blue in which the cricketer could be seen mocking the former and current captains of the squad.

From calling the team “cheats” to labelling Virat Kohli and Mahendra Singh Dhoni as “disgraces,” Parkinson really left no stones unturned to show his displeasure with the Indian side.

Ever since making his international debut in the ODI series against South Africa in February 2020, the cricketer has managed to remove some of his toxic posts but not before a couple of quick-trigger Indian fans were able to take screenshots of everything that he had said.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic outbreak in Maharashtra, the safety protocol established by the Indian government and the Board of Control for Cricket in India does not allow for fans to enter the stadiums as spectators, else the pressure of delivering in the middle of such an angry fan-base would have been extremely overwhelming.

Nonetheless, Parkinson has his work cut out for him. There is no restriction in the world that would be able to stop Team India fans from getting to him on social media if he fails to perform on foreign soil and based on the outrage online, he will have to do so sooner than later.

Here are some of the reactions by the Indian fans that have already found their way online for the rest of the world to see:
