While the Indian Premier League has come to an abrupt halt due to a sudden surge in positive COVID-19 cases within the BCCI bio-bubble, one player who managed to leave a massive impact, at least in the first half of the tournament, was Ravindra Jadeja.

Returning to the field after a severe thumb injury during India’s tour of Australia back in January 2021, the Chennai Super Kings all-rounder has been ‘The Man’ of the hour.

Even though he is not a leading name in the orange or purple cap race, his presence on the field, while batting, bowling or even fielding has the opposing team sweating and extra cautious around him and they have their reasons.

On Monday, the ‘Voice of Indian Cricket’ Harsha Bhogle spoke about the brilliance of Jadeja in IPL 2021 and in complimenting him on his evolution as a cricketer, Bhogle ended up calling him ‘Sir Jadeja’ an informal title presented to him by his fans with love and affection.

“The all-round performance of the season; there can only be one, and that is Sir Jadeja himself. He hits 37 off the last over, he then picks 3/13 including the wickets of Maxwell and AB, has a direct hit. One person doing that (is) inconceivable. If there is a better performance than this in this season, I want to be there, bang in the middle watching it happen,” he said on Cricbuzz.

Rarely the one to reply to such issues, Jadeja made an exception this time around and while thanking Bhogle for his thoughts, requested that he’d be happier if he’d be called by his original name.

And even though Harsha Bhogle agreed to not call him ‘sir’ anymore, Jadeja’s request had little to no impact on his dedicated fans who remain adamant that the title suits him well and that they will continue to call him by it:
