Masterchef Australia Judges Bowled Over By Indian Chef's Chhole, Kadhai Paneer & Indians Are Proud

If you’re a foodie, you would know that no cuisine blends multiple spices as nicely as Indian food. Some people want to present Indian food globally as Indian cuisine has a blend of many flavours that can hardly go wrong. And Depinder Chhibber from MasterChef Australia has been doing just that with her Indian recipes.

In its latest season, the contestant made a wholesome meal that included chickpea curry, cauliflower parantha, her grandmother's version of pickle, kadhai paneer, stir-fried rice, and fried okra chips. She was nervous as she sampled her food in front of them but the judges were super impressed by her culinary skills. She also told that she wants to take the Indian food on a global platform and this is what every household in her homeland cooks back at their homes. She said she does wish to own an Indian restaurant in the future.

In an interview with an Australian news portal, she told what inspired her to participate in the show. She said, “Since we moved to Australia I hardly watched local TV except for the news. I always watched food shows even as a kid in India, with Chef Sanjeev Kapoor being my favourite. When we moved to Australia I grew up watching MasterChef. I was obsessed with the show as a viewer and knew all the dishes.”

She went on to add, “For me, MasterChef is the benchmark of cooking in Australia. If I had to ever enter a contest it had to be MasterChef. But to be honest, I went on MasterChef because probably I’m the biggest fan out there! I look up to the contestants and if I ever ran into them, I would get very excited and get them to sign my cookbook. For me, anyone who went on MasterChef was equivalent to a Bollywood celebrity.”

We too are proud of you, Depinder Chhibber!
