Japanese Scientists Dig Deepest Ocean Hole Ever & Twitter Is Worried If Godzilla Will Come To Life

Given how 2020 & 2021 have been, if we hear the news that Godzilla has actually attacked Tokyo in real life, we wouldn’t be surprised.

Especially, given how some Japanese scientists have been conducting experiments on the ocean floor.

A team of Japanese scientists has apparently drilled a hole on the ocean floor that goes as deep as 5 miles in an attempt to study the history of earthquakes in Japan, and to better prepare for it.

People who have keenly followed the Godzilla movies will know just how eerily similar this is to the Godzilla & King Kong films.

In pop-culture, especially Japanese pop culture, the Godzilla is an enormous and violent pre-historic sea creature that stays below the earth’s surface, which gets awakened by awakened and empowered by nuclear radiation.

The monster’s first appearance in films was in the year 1954, in a movie named Godzilla.

Ever since then, the creature has been an integral part of Asian, as well as American pop-culture. Ever since its inception, it has been portrayed as a contemporary and a rival of King Kong.

People on Twitter though, felt that this isn’t exactly the ideal year when such experiments should be conducted. They meme-ed the heck out of this piece of news.

Remember Fukushima? Well...

Japan did have a nuclear meltdown.....years ago....now they dig a hole to find it....nuclear powers were given to whatever is down there...they wrote it and it happened 🤯

Of course, whether we should be worried all depends on which era of Godzilla it is: is it serious and scary early (and modern Godzilla, or the more lighthearted version that does...this? pic.twitter.com/YiRlqxEzBO

Another movie that could be played out in real life...

This one’s actually funny.

Japanese researchers have released a new statement: "oh shit... run"

— Dad Jokes Panda (@TrashPandaFTW May 27, 2021

As we said, this might as well be the year where we go out all guns blazing...

The Japanese are sick of the global chaos at hand.

"What the hell--now is as good a time as any to see if Godzilla is really down there."

Now all we need is a headline about an island expedition gone wrong. pic.twitter.com/kuPL6wHQDg

Oh no! There goes Tokyo! 🦖

— Scott Maier (@samaier May 27, 2021

Well, given how the last two years have been, this is not exactly a good time to go for experiments like these.
