If it wasn't just Twitter that had a spat with India recently, now American tech giant Google has come under fire in the country after its search engine showed South Indian language Kannada as the 'ugliest language in India'.

Recently, it came to light that if one searched about the ugliest language in India, the search result displayed,

"The answer is Kannada, a language spoken by around 40 million people in south India."

It is now reported that Google acted quickly in removing the search response from its engine.

Following the incident, the Karnataka government on Thursday (June 3) said it will take legal action against Google with Kannada & Culture Minister Aravind Limbavali stating that a notice will soon be issued to the tech giant.

However, before facing any legal action, the search engine must now face the uproar that has been caused in the country, with angry citizens taking to Twitter to share their reactions.

Hi @GoogleIndia what is this bullshit? More than over 5 crore people speak this beautiful language. KANNADA IS NOT UGLY.

Kannada ha a very high proportion Sanskrit works. India’s Renaissance last mid millennium was due to the Vijayanagara Dynasty founded with the blessing of the Sringeri Shankaracharya. We Indians are proud of this contribution and hence only foreign barbarians will be so crude
